Please let me know the status of http://www.greetingcards.com, submitted to
1. http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/E-mail/E-greetings/

It was originally submitted back in December 2004 and after not hearing back I had submitted it 1-2 more times over the following months.

I apologize in advance if I had not gone through the proper channels in the past -- I just found out about these forums this evening... I had noticed a few months ago one of the two editors names disappeared, so am wondering if my submission got lost somehow when an editor left.

If for some reason my site has been rejected, please let me know what is wrong so that I may take care of it.

I know this is volunteer work and appreciate what everyone here does. Keep up the excellent work.

Thanks in advance...

There is no status information to report.

If the most recent suggestion was a month or more ago, then you may resubmit once to the single best category and check back again in this same thread after one month.

If it was suggested less than a month ago, then please check back in this same thread after it's been a month.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thank you for the speedy repsonse -- I will follow your suggestions.

Just to understand the process, when you state there is no status does that mean you can't see my listing or just that there are no notices about my listing? I am curious if my submission is no longer in the queue, or it may be still be in the queue awaiting review?

Is it common for listings to be unprocessed and the need for them to be resubmitted exactly as before?

Thanks in advance,
-John

Yes, or something like that.

>Is it common for listings to be unprocessed and the need for them to be resubmitted exactly as before?

No, not common at all. But not unknown either.

Bump the thread in a month. We may know more then; we will tell more then.

It means one of two things. (a) I cannot see it in unreviewed. In this case, either you submitted it very recently and it has not made through the filters yet, or something just went wrong and it didn't make it into the queue. If it was suggested very recently, you are asking too soon and should wait until a month has passed. If it's been over a month, you should resubmit and wait a month and request status. (b) I can see it in the pool and you are asking too soon for a status. Is this really that confusing?

Hi,

It has now been at least one month since I last submitted my site, www.greetingcards.com.

It has still not appeared. Can someone please review the submission status?

As a followup, I have submitted it at least 1 (possibly 2) times before going back to late 2004. I have never received notice (either accepted or not).

Thank you in advance for any help.

The site is there waiting for review.

>If for some reason my site has been rejected, please let me know what is wrong so that I may take care of it.

We don't do that. We assume if you had wanted to, you already would have. It's not as if the rules are complex: here unique content would mean "different card designer, and cards different from those on all other websites."

>I have never received notice (either accepted or not).

You wouldn't. We just don't do it: it's just flat too risky for editors. We're individual volunteers, often working from home; we don't have the protection of big corporate offices with lawyers and guards and all. And a very small percentage of psycho submitters is all it takes to ensure ANY active editor will deal with hundreds of their sites.

I understand and appreciate that it is all volunteer.

Is there a system in place to see (from the administrative side) that an editor is actually still active?...

I had actually submitted to become an editor for one of the greeting card categories and was turned down (I clearly stated my affiliation up front and submitted legitimate sample listings). I was turned down with the reason given that "we have enough coverage of those categories already".

Thank you for your prompt replies,
-John

More than 200 editors can edit any given category.

I suspect that you did not read the entire message, since that is but one of the "typical" reasons that are provided. Usually at the bottom of the e-mail once can find more specific information on their application.
