Status of http://www.master-of-writing-resumes.com

Hello!

I had submitted my site to "http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Employment/Resumes_and_Portfolios/", and was just curious if it had been looked at yet...I don't think that there is an editor for this section, does that typically increase the time it takes to get listed? Sorry for the simplistic questions, but this is my first post - I am new to everything here...

There really isn't a "typical" time, so this is one of those imponderable questions like "is a piece of string longer?"

I'd hate to spend all evening looking at resume sites, but you never can tell what some volunteer will be willing to put up with -- today.

Ah, I see...so, you are saying this a boring category that editors probably wouldn't be as much attention too, so it will probably be months before a new resume site can get into the directory. Yes, it is a bit of a dry category, but it fits my personality, and yes, I am a boring person. However, if I had to look at resume site after resume site, well, I think I'd throw myself off of a cliff - so I can understand a longer than average turnaround on this topic.

So my site hasn't been looked at, and it's quite probably it will take awhile due to the excitement level of the category? So, I guess my option is to continue waiting?

Well you could always help out - apply for one of the sub cats like http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Employment/Resumes_and_Portfolios/Posting/ prove you can edit to the guidelines, then apply for the larger area.

You don't have to edit until you feel like jumping - we can probably find a safety harness somewhere <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Dan, sorry for the delayed reaction. Let me share with you the methodology I apply to the categories I edit.

1. First and foremost I attempt to maintain a "clean" group of sites that have all ready been reviewed and added to the index. Have sites changed? Do they still resolve properly? Are they still pertinent to the category etc, etc.

2. Next would be the review of editor added sites as well as sites submitted by the general public. The sites are reviewed in the order they are received but are not immediately added after the review. I like to wait awhile to insure the integrity of the site and directory as many sites change soon after they are listed in the directory. I am often suspicious of sites when I cant figure out their purpose or the motivations of the site owner.
