First I want to thank the people who work on this site - in an internet that is either becoming the people with money win or computers who have no emotion or judge of quality - it is very much needed. The task is overwhelming but has never been more important!

I'm not 100% sure about how everything works here, so if I've broken a rule or protocol I apologize, please set me straight and I'll work with you. Thanks. Now onto the site!

I think I posted my site to this category (though I didn't think keeping records was important) sometime back in May. http://dmoz.org/Arts/Entertainment/Publications_and_Media/Magazines_and_E-zines/

After completing the only known complete and full length interview of the band Dredg I submitted this link around July 1st to: http://dmoz.org/Arts/Music/Bands_and_Artists/D/Dredg/

Unrelated question: How does a band not listed get added to a category? The band in question is Memento - this site distinction is especially crucial as there is also a well-known movie named Memento and segmentation of this data would be very desirable - the first two sites that belong in that category would be Mementoband.com and mementofan.com
http://dmoz.org/Arts/Music/Bands_and_Artists/M/Memento

Thank you for your time on both issues.

Let's see. Your site was not submitted to Arts: Entertainment: Publications and Media: Magazines and E-zines - at least no submission of http://www.musicfrisk.com/ ever arrived there. It would have been the wrong category anyway: Your site is about music and there is a special category for music magazines and e-zines - see the link "Music@".

Using this link you get to Arts: Music: Magazines and E-zines. Aha, there it is: your submission of June 9th. Unfortunately still waiting for review. And unfortunately along with more than a hundred other submissions. And unfortunately still in the wrong category: No site will be listed at this level. There are lots of subcategories for various music styles and various aspects of music. And for all the sites that don't fit in any of them, there are letter subcategories. Yours would be Arts: Music: Magazines and E-zines: M (M for MusicFrisk), if you don't fit into one of the subcategories (which would probably be better).

Perhaps you have a second look and tell us which subcategory fits best? We'll be able to move your submission there.

Okay, on to your second submission. http://www.musicfrisk.com/picture/interview/dredg.volume1.no1.php was submitted to Arts: Music: Bands and Artists: D: Dredg on July 29th. (Your submission of July 1st has probably been overwritten by this newer one.) It is still waiting for review.

And now to your last question, the band without category. No problem, sites for Memento can be submitted to Arts: Music: Bands and Artists: M. The reviewing editor will be able to create a new subcategory, when he or she accepts a site. But as far as I can see, subcategories are only created if more than one site for a band or artist has been accepted.

Hope that helps!

Greetings from Germany,
Robert

If given the choice I think the second one would be better:
Arts: Music: Magazines and E-zines: M

However, Rolling Stone is both the first category you mention and the last category with an R - this would seem inconsistent or duplicative??? (Asking not telling)

I'll answer the others seperately. Thanks again.

Confused by the overwriting process? Is there something I'm misunderstanding? This is a very small category, with some sites that have not been updated in 6 months or more. Is the editor "active"? Thanks again!

The category page of Arts: Music: Bands and Artits: D: Dredg shows an editor on the bottom. But the category page was last updated on January 2nd. The shown editor is no editor any more. It is a known minor bug of our system that the category page still shows an ex-editor until anything else in the category is changed.

So the category does not have its own listed editor any more, but it can still be edited, for example by the editor of Arts: Music: Bands and Artists: D and by all of the editors of Arts: Music: Bands and Artists and so on.

Your page is, by the way, the only one now waiting for review in the Dredg category.

Yours,
Robert

Okay, I have moved your submission to Arts: Music: Magazines and E-zines: M. It seems to me that your site has a focus on Alternative Rock though, so I guessed you'd select Arts: Music: Styles: Rock: Alternative: Magazines and E-zines. But okay, it's your site and you probably know better what it is about ...

As to the RollingStone magazine, you're right about the inconsistency. Probably your e-zine must first become equally famous to be allowed such an inconsistency. ;)

Yours,
Robert

Thanks, I cover alot of acoustic guitar, blues and some things that are definately not alternative. Can you please give me an outlook / backup on the category you moved it to? Thanks again.

I'll work on that famous thing :), but you see that is just the problem, monopolies are given unfair advantages which makes competing on a level playing field difficult.
