June 22nd actually. Your suggestion has been received and is awaiting review. We can't predict when that might be. If it hasn't been listed in 6 months, please ask again.

Crikey... I have seen some sites that have been submitted to many categories... and then there is this one!

There really is no need to resubmit as the site has been reviewed many times over the past few years and it has been decided everytime that the site is not listable.

Normally we would not give an indication of why a site has been declined a listing however in this instance I am happy to provide a clue: Other site, same company, same services, already listed = nothing unique and contra guidelines

Hi Jim

Thanks for your speedy reply. I understand there may be a way for me to check the status of my submission myself - can you please let me know if this is possible, and if so how to go about it.

Thanks for this :)

Kind regards

I'm just saying, 5 months seems a long time - I know there isn't an editor for the category that I would like a listing in; 6 months is an age!

is there no way to speed things up? :(

Kind regards

Why did he say that?

Because Jim wants to spend the time editing as many sites as possible and does not want to get fired by the owners of this forum - who have told him to follow the forum guidelines http://resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=396 without deviating in any of the points there.

Your last status check was made and answered on the 12th August 2004.

The forum guidelines state:
Wait at least six months after getting a status update from an editor about your submission before asking for the next status update.

Please do not ask again until after 12th February 2005. Are our guidelines really causing that much confusion?

Status checking & Being reviewed.

Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply. This has got to be the most frustrating thing I've ever tried to do. I can't understand why I having to wait so long for http://www.planet-numbers.co.uk getting a review from an editor.

Can I offer to edit the category I want to be listed within? I note that currently a volunteer is needed to edit http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Uni...raphic_Numbers/

Once again, I look forward to hearing back from anyone who can help / knows what I'm doing wrong here.

Wishing you all a happy and prosperous 2005!

:)

Best wishes

You can volunteer. Although I'm not a meta editor, if the intention is to add that site I would rate your chances of success somewhere between no hope and Bob Hope (already dead). But I'll put you out of your misery, the site has been rejected. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count from how many categories and how many times, but there is no point in keep submitting it, you are just wasting everyone's time. If you're still interested in being an editor I would try for a nice non-commercial category for knitting patterns if I were you.
This has got to be the most frustrating thing I've ever tried to do.
Now you know how we feel when we see another copy of your site. Thanks for the enquiry anyway.

Been Rejected?

Thanks for letting me know that http://www.planet-numbers.co.uk has been rejected - is this a permanant position? I have stopped submitting the URL as I realised that this wasn't the way to get a listing. The site is a stand alone site, with only www.planet-numbers.com pointing at it as well. It has unique content, looks good, is informative, and last time was submitted to the correct part of the DMOZ directory.

please let me know if there is anything I can do to have my site listed.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

kind regards

There is nothing that can be done and I would suggest other methods of promotion.

Can I make a new site, with a new URL, and submit it to DMOZ for review? Would this be a waste of my / your time? Is it me that is blacklisted, or just the www.planet-numbers.co.uk URL?

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Best wishes

The site is a stand alone site, with only www.planet-numbers.com pointing at it as well. It has unique content, looks good, is informative...

The elements you listed are all important. However, we look for a little more. We don't just look for stand alone sites and unique content, we look for sites that add value to our directory and expand selection. Let me explain.

Lots of companies create dozens and dozens of sites to attract more traffic. That's fine. That's their right. They can create separate websites for each brand they sell, each product, and each target audience if they like.

They can create:
phones_for_teens.com
phones_for_tots.com
phones_for_seniors.com
phones_for_women.com
phones_for_men.com
cable_service.com
cable_tv.com
cable_WEB.com
etc, etc, etc.

Each site may have unique content. We still will list only one and we don't care if they link to each other or not. We think that if the company is wise they create a master site, name_of_company.com, and link all their sites there. If they don't, that's their problem. We are not going to fill our categories with dozens of links to the same company.

You can create as many websites as you like for your company. We will list only one.
