Has anyone had any luck finding the status I requested in the first post?

Thank you,

It's there waiting for review.

I doubt it will be listed. It's in a category for insurance agents, not insurance brokers. They are not the same thing.

Are you serious about the possible exclusion on the basis of "brokerage" vs "agent"? If the category truly is no place for a brokerage I must admit the category is laden with brokerages that should be reported for abuse since they don't belong. This is assuming you define "agent" as an individual or firm that represents ONE company where as a "broker" represents MANY companies. More definitions can be found:

agent - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=define:Insurance+agent&btnG=Search

broker - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&oi=defmore&q=define:Insurance+broker

If you want to speculate about the motives of the people offering to help you, take it away ... far away.

If you want to report abuse, the "Abuse" forum and the official abuse reporting system are both open.

I see my reputation preceeds me. I am not questioning or speculating the motives of the editor who helped me. It is a matter of semantics and what seems to be splitting hairs. Brokerage and Agency are very close, and on some definitions from the links I supplied they are used interchangeably. To say our site may be excluded because it is a brokerage is difficult to understand given the almost synonomous nature of "brokerage" and "agency". I appreciate all help that is given, however, sometimes it just doesn't make sense.

I'm sure sole was looking at the same data I was, and I agree that the site likely won't be listed. But I wouldn't have put it that way, although I think I understand what was meant.

I'd call it a "bare blind lead generator" site, which we have a policy of not listing. The reason is simple: there is simply no relevant information to review on the site.

Thank you for the clarification. Despite my disagreements with the classification of the site, I am destined to live with the ODP's decision.

Thank you all for the assistance

I do not know where to get this information to the editors and this is the only place I can think of. I will bring in some information from another discussion to help me make my case as to why I am posting here so soon.

I have been told our site is not listed because it has no relevant content in two posts:

Generally the technical and managerial control is not what gets a site panned. It's the content. If the relevant content has changed significantly, then mention, at the end of the suggested description of the submittal what was changed: (new owners have replaced the former content with blablabla....)

I have resubmitted my site http://www.quickquote.com to http://dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Insurance/Agents_and_Marketers/Multi-Line/United_States/
today (06/02/04) but was unable to follow hutcheson's directions of adding a note about what content changed because the explanation lengthened the description beyond what was acceptable.

I will make my comments here as to what we changed and if someone could get this associated with my submission so that when it does get reviewed the editor will know we have changed and they can give it another look and not brush it off.

We have changed both our life and health resource centers to provide 90% of the information we provide to customers who get a quote (obviously we cannot give rates... because we need to calculate them based on user info). This allows site users to get information without submitting any information. This is a drastic change from before. Other than that our business model remains the same.

Thank you
