category: http://dmoz.org/Arts/Crafts/Scrapbooking/

Hi everyone. I am new here...and glad to be part of the ODP forum. I have a question that maybe some of you seasoned veterans will be able to answer for a newbie like myself.

One of my pages http://www.scrapbook.com/homepage.shtml used to be my homepage. Instead of submitting my regular index page http://www.scrapbook.com I submitted that other page (which was acting as our homepage sometime back). I know now how dumb that was to submit that page. DOH!

I have since deleted the homepage.shtml page and I would like to get my DMOZ listing to reflect that change. The editor of my category has been just great in the past and got that initial homepage.shtml listed in the directory rather quickly. But I have submitted the request a few times over the last 8 months with no response.

I wonder if perhaps the editor of my category has seen my listing in there and doesn't realize that I am just asking for my url to be changed to reflect my sites real index page. Perhaps he/she thinks that I am trying to change my listing. Or maybe they have been really swamped over the last few months.

Either way, it's understandable. I'm just wondering if there is something else I can do let the editor know that I would just like to have that url changed?

Does anybody have any suggestions or ideas of what I should do at this point? There isn't any way to contact edotors directly from what I can surmise. Thanks for any help you can give.

It was changed already, changes must still propagate to our public servers. Which may take some time due to ongoing technical issues.

Wow... Thanks so much for that quick reply! That is great news. I wish I could be a DMOZ editor just so I could make someones day just like you made mine.

Thanks again for the quick response, I really appreciate it!

I wish I could be a DMOZ editor ...

Well, it's not really all that hard to become one. :)

Pick a small category that interests you, find three sites that would belong there, and click on the volunteer link at the bottom of the page.

If you can follow directions, choose good sites, and properly describe and title them, you are bound to accepted.

I think I will try. You've inspired me.

As a quick question, does anyone know how long it will/could take for the new link to populate to the live servers?

Are we looking at months? weeks? days?

Thanks again.

It's not something we (the editors) have any control over, nor has staff given us an estimate. They are working on it (and are actually making progress). Sorry we can't be more specific. :(

It'll be in the current RDF, though, which is what matters more anyway.
