You are submitting to too many categories. It's better to pick the one best category rather than a bunch that you think will do.

It wastes our time as we move the submissions around, and it risks us deciding to put the listing is a place you didn't consider. (Well, we might do that anyway.) Remember we aren't going to list your site in two Business categories and two Art categories.

You can pick one topical category, and if you choose well we won't move it.

I'd say your best choice would be a Shopping or Computers cat. I don't see a good choice in Shopping.

Your submission to Business/Arts_and_Entertainment/Photography/Stock/Royalty_F was moved to Computers/Graphics/Clip_Art/Pictures

That looks like a good choice.

Status: Awaiting review in Computers/Graphics/Clip_Art/Pictures :)

Hello,

Thank you for your quick response!

Is there a way to see how many are before me, or how long it will take more or less?

Thank you in advance
Regards,
Falk

Submissions aren't queued: an editor can review the submissions in whichever order he or she wants to, so we can't say how many are ahead of yours. As for the time until review, we have no way of estimating that. Editors are volunteers and not required to review a certain number of submissions or submissions in a gvien category, so there's no way for us to know when an editor will get around to reviewing any given submission. For more details, see the FAQ.

Dear dmoz Team,

We have a quality site, which is listed on Yahoo and other search engines. Over a year ago we have submited to dmoz but are not able to get in.

I know editors were moving us around in different categories, but now it just seems to be sitting somwhere.

Status: Awaiting review in Computers/Graphics/Clip_Art/Pictures

Can you tell me what the status is? Is the editor of our newly assigned category still active?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
George Hellwig

Today is January 22 (here, anyway). You're a little early.

5 more copies were removed from the unreviewed area of various categories, but the copy in Computers/Graphics/Clip_Art/Pictures is still there.

Hello

Thank you for your quick reply.

That the site is sitting in Computers/Graphics/Clip_Art/Pictures and nothing is happening, is not new. This was told to me July 23, 2004.

Can somebody tell me what the chances are of beeing listed? How much longer is the wait till something happens? Is the editor of the category still active?

Any help to make some progress would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
George Hellwig

There is really nothing else we can tell you, maybe no-one has edited in that category for a while, maybe no one will for several more years, maybe someone will start there tonight. We can't predict when and what might happen.

Actually, you may not. My report at #10, that the site is still waiting for review, is less than 6 months ago.

I know this seems harsh, but the moderators have decided that we may not answer status requests before 6 months after the last status report, to keep down the volume of posts.
