Site still not listed

Hi

My site still has not made it into DMOZ and I have also re-submitted. This has been going on for well over a year now.

I wrote the above post over 6 months ago.

I have re-submitted oand I still won't get listed.

Can someone once again give me an update.

Thanks

Hi

Is this mail going to be answered? If it is not the intention to add my website to the DMOZ directory can I be told this and have the reasons why?

I would aslo like to know who deals with this section and why have they constantly refused to add our website when we know for fact they have added others who came after us in those sections regionally.

Is there a conflict of interest here?

The submissions are still waiting in both categories. Sites can be reviewed in any order and take from 2 minutes to 2 years, maybe more, to be reviewed. I notice there is a history of making multiple re-submissions and given this type of activity wastes tons of editor time which could be better spent, I doubt anyone is rushing to pay attention to those submissions of your that are currently in the system.

Many hundreds, if not thousands, of editors can edit in both those categories and any of them can edit in any order they like. If you have evidence of specific abuse there is a link to report this at the top of each page.

If you want to follow up, wait another 6 months and ask for another update.

The vast majority of submittals are reviewed by a few hundred "highly active" editors (hundreds of edits a month) who do not compete with most of those sites -- so it's very obvious that most of the time there can't be a conflict of interest, and most of the rest of the time there isn't. That's not the first assumption you should make.

Now, you may think you know who "came in after" whom (whatever that means), but we labor under no such belief. We do not know who started in business first, we do not know who built a website first, and we do not know who submitted their website first. And that's fine with us. We deal with the sites that are up today, this moment, and we deal with them in whatever order is convenient -- that order will obviously appear random (and I try to make sure it really does have indeterminable if not indeterministic aspects).

As for knowing why a site is rejected, you can read the editor guidelines anytime. No more information is necessary; generally, no more information is either helpful or appropriate. As for knowing when, no, we won't tell that either, and it doesn't matter. As for WHETHER, yes, we'll tell that in this forum if you ask.

Hi

A couple of issues here then. First of all if we are rejected it won't be on any violation of your rules, this is for sure. You point out to me where we are in violation? Absolutely not, we have been playing by your guidelines.

Second of all, the reason we submitted again is because we had felt possibly it had dissapeared the listing. Obviously it has not and you have records of it. So I won't submit anymore and just wait until it happens.

We appreciate the reply.

Wow, that really makes us feel confident.

Those two statements are contradictory. If you played by the guidelines you wouldn't have resubmitted. Resubmissions, scattered around, cause editors unnecessary work, and since they are unpaid volunteers unnecessary work isn't really appreciated. If an editor happens to be working in date submitted order then a resubmission within the same category also overwrites an earlier one giving it a lower priority. In one of those categories your site is showing up as the most recent submitted site.

The important thing from your point of view is that the site is waiting for review and has not, as of this moment, been rejected.

You have been given a status by oneeye: both submissions are awaiting review. Reviews can take from a few days to more than two years; there is no way for you to influence the timing.

We would appreciate it if you did not resubmit again, unless specifically told to do so by an editor in this fourm.

You are weocome to return to this forum thread in six months (after July 12) to receive a new status; you are more that welcome to browse the category as often as you wish to see if the site has appeared.
