this site was initially posted to http://dmoz.org/Health/Weight_Loss/ but may be relevent to http://dmoz.org/Health/Nutrition/Dietary_Options/

it does have some affiliate links, but no banners, and i'm wondering if it may have been rejected.

It has not been rejected (yet...).

There are hundreds of sites, most of them primarily Shopping rather than Informational, and many of them inappropriate. Expect a long wait.
