Status of http://www.towelsrus.co.uk

I'm not even going to look because it is already listed in Worthing (where I happened to be editing yesterday) as http://www.towels.co.uk/ .

As I explained by email to seo@towelsrus.co.uk yesterday, your new URL will not be listed whilst http://www.towels.co.uk/ is still functional. This is what I said.

Thanks for suggesting that we change the URL of http://www.towels.co.uk listed in our Worthing category to http://www.towelsrus.co.uk/ .

We don't do that so long as the original is working.

If you are in control of towels.co.uk , make it permanently redirect to towelsrus.co.uk and we'll act. This is for the site owners protection.

If you aren't in control of towels.co.uk , then it'll just have to stay listed.

Dear Jim - to clarify, I got your message and understand about the 'towels.co.uk' listing, however this is a seperate and new listing post we made in July - it is refering to another domain name and another web site - there should be no reason to NOT review and assess. I shall have to explain so more it seems.

1) new domain - towelsrus.co.uk
2) new website and content as towelsrus.co.uk NOT towels.co.uk
3) Duncan Stewart Textiles listing you refer to has nothing to do with towels.co.uk anymore as you will see by visitng their website - now called Biju.co.uk
4) Duncan Stewart Textiles IS towelsrus.co.uk - we supply and trade under this name - visit the site and you will see
5)I asked for an amendment as the towels.co.uk site is getting any links to do with Duncan Stewart Textiles and this means we loose out on anyone trying to genuinely get in touch with us.
6) we do not have any control of the towels.co.uk website to redirect or amend, as the previous web designer took the domain and business with them, thank you very much.

You might have missed my point.

Somebody (possibly you) asked us to alter a listing for http://www.towels.co.uk/ to http://www.towelsrus.co.uk .

Because http://www.towels.co.uk/ is still functional, we won't do that for a couple of reasons.

• We don't make changes for SEO purposes.
• We can't be sure that the change request is legitimate.

You are now telling us that http://www.towels.co.uk/ is not in your control. Do you think it reasonable that we effectively delist a URL because a third party asks us to? Wouldn't it have been more sensible just to suggest your new URL to Worthing instead of attempting to get us to do exactly that?

Whois confirms different ownership and http://www.archive.org makes it possible to track when the change happened.

I've amended all http://www.towels.co.uk listings to the new title of Biju.
I've removed the temporary block on listing http://www.towelsrus.co.uk .
http://www.towelsrus.co.uk is awaiting review in Soft Furnishings.
http://www.towelsrus.co.uk is not awaiting review elsewhere.

With the possible exception of Worthing, please don't make any further submissions.

Thanks Jim, that's a relief ...phew - happy that the www.towelsrus.co.uk is back in for review - thanks for the "cleaning exercise" you did, and understanding the unfortunate situation my client has experienced recently with the domain "hijacking" as I would call it (registering under your name when providing a service such as webdesign or hosting / domain is just plainly unethical in my book ...but there is no law yet),

Anyway, thanks again, I'll check back in 6 months and I will not be posting any more as per DMOZ requirements
