Hi

I want to know the status of my http://www.loans-park.co.uk. An editor from dmoz.org visited my site on 8th of June. Further details are-

Host Name: modem-2919.jaguar.dialup.pol.co.uk
IP Address: 81.76.187.103
Country: United Kingdom
Region: England
City: London
ISP: Energis Uk
Browser: Opera 7.23
Operating: System Windows ME
Resolution: 1024x768

Still my site is not appearing in DMOZ. I request this person to let me know what my site is lacking. All others also please help me.

Regards
Henry

Thanks for the link.

The site is indeed awaiting review in that category however it needs an editor to be able to research which site is considered to be the main one for your company and its services as there appears to be more than one.

It would help if you could perhaps post details of any other URL's that your company use to perhaps speed up the process. This of course is not mandatory however it will inevitably save the editor a bit of extra ground work and thus help both sides.

Thanks Leer for your support. I have another site of my company and that is http://www.chance4finance.co.uk. Tough, I do not handle that site. My colleage handles that. I am only responsible for http://www.loans-park.co.uk. I hope this will help you people to place my site in the above mentioned category. I shall be highly grateful.

Henry

I have brought that site to the attention of the reviewing editor.

On a quick look around however I should add that I have linked more sites than the ones above. Ultimately should the reviewing editor decide to list a site it will be 'site' (singular) as we do not list multiple sites for the same company who have chosen to spread similar content/services over multiple domains or via sister companies etc etc as they loose their 'unique' quality.

Feel free to request a further status request on or after 8th January 2005

Off course there are more than two sites at our server. But they are not like chance4finance.co.uk or loans-park.co.uk. They are sights dedicated to a single category in our business whereas these two sites you call as Mega sites of our company. We just want either loans-park.co.uk or chance4finance.co.uk to be listed in DMOZ directory. I hope you people will understand and do the needful. And please until January it will be too late for our company.

Both of the above sites, aswell as any others found (eg http://longdogfinance.co.uk/ etc etc), will be assessed and a decision made as to which one, if any, best meets the requirements of the guidelines and offers the most to our users.

My comments in relation to January refer to the rules of this forum whereby after the first status request visitors must wait a further six months between subsequent checks. This rule is in place due to the amount of requests we receive and the limit of editors who give there own available free time to research and answer these queries (aswell as edit in the directory).

This rule does not affect the time it can take for a review to take place. An editor may pass by that category tomorrow; but then again they may not pass by for another 2 years. Eitherway it is out of our control and we do not ask editors to adhere to deadlines. We are not a commercial service nor are we a commercial serving project so if your company is dependant on a listing within ODP so as not to be 'to late' I would recommend researching other methods of promotion that may perhaps have a more immediate outcome.

Thanks a lot leer. I am really very much grateful to you. Please include any one of my sites in DMOZ. Could you please let know via this thread that my site has got a place in the Open Directory.

Henry :)

It's against our policy. You'll know the site is listed when you see it in the directory, or you can ask on or after 8 January 2005.

100% no. At least not until an editor performs a full review of that and associated sites and we do not perform reviews as a result of posts in this forum.

If that or any other of the associated sites are listed then you will be able to see it listed and thus not need to wait six months. Other than that you are in the same boat as many many thousands of other submitters who also will not be given an special allowances on the basis of pleas.
