Status of my application

About a month ago, I submitted an application to be an editor for the "Health: Men's Health: Conditions and Diseases: Impotence: Resources" category. I received the e-mail confirming the application, but I haven't heard anything since then. How do I know if my application was denied or accepted? :pirate:

Your application was denied. You should have received an e-mail. If you are using an e-mail account with spam filters, like Hotmail or Yahoo, you should check in the spamjunk mail folder. For some weird reason our e-mails seem to have words that triggers spam filters :)

I don't have a clue why the application was denied, but I would say that it's not a great category for a new editor. It's an area that we would tend to leave for editors who are a bit more familiar with our processes and guidelines.

What kinds of categories should people who are looking to become editors look into applying for. I would like to apply for something that is related to "impotence" as this is a topic I am interested in learning more about. Should I apply for a category that is more general, and not as specific?

I would personally suggest that you steer clear of any category that is related to impotence (that means in Health, Shopping, or anywhere else).

Really? Why isn't impotence a good category? What would be a logical place to start then? I am interested in this topic and would like to eventually work with it.

Because it is one of the largest and sleaziest of all the spam magnets. Just look at your e-mail. How much of it is spam, and how much of that spam is viagra (or related)? We wouldn't even consider putting a new editor in front of that firehose.

You won't need to know anything at all about the topic to edit 99.9999% of the submitted sites. But you'll have to know everything about spammers.

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind when I'm applying. Thanks, again.
