Hello,

A few months back I submitted my site, www.protestanterrors.com to the DMOZ directory. I just did a search and do not see it. How can I find out the status of my submission?

Thank you,
bhlincoln

A word of advice...tone down your aggressiveness with the copy within this site. Religious intolerance is not that appealing to the editors. Besides, I question the integrity of this information....many, many error in your theology.

Are you an editor and expressing an official view????

I would think by it's very nature that category Society: Religion and Spirituality: Opposing Views: Christianity

invites the suggestion of sites that express religous intolerance

ODP in general does not censor viewpoints - and although I as an editor would never choose to review and list many of the sites in this area, another editor would be free to do so.

Sites that are illegal would not be listed - see http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html#illegal

So a site that opposes a relgion and suggests killing members of that religion would be unlikely to get in.

We totaly don't care. Everybody is entitled to give his own opinion and we will list their sites (unless they violate our guidelines or if they violate any laws).

I don't think we need to question anyone's integrity -- either the editors (some of whom are Roman Catholic, and some of whom aren't) or the website publishers (who are presumably human). You never know everything about human motivations. Oddly enough, this is the sort of thing that Protestant editors might WANT to list -- "just look at the knowledge and logic and (if you must go there) integrity that our adversaries possess!"

But if the site is on the web, and it appears to express some personal (or corporate) representation of the religious life of humanity -- then the presumption is that it is eligible for listing, no matter how who it embarrasses or offends. (The rule is, of course, hardest to implement when it's your own fellow-credalists who are embarrassing you.)

Thanks to all for your responses.

I just wanted to reply to the responses as a whole. If you look at Protestanterrors.com, it is simply a Catholic Apologetics website, which presents errors on doctrine brought about by the Protestant Reformation. It does NOT oppose Christianity in the least, it is PRO Christianity.

There is absolutely nothing aggressive or illegal about the site and many Catholic sites are linking to it now, and I have gotten many comments from former Protestants who say the information is helpful and accurate.

This site should go under a Catholic Apologetics category though I'm not sure if I submitted it to the right location.

Thanks again!

A retraction

Fair enough,

I think I might have been a little harsh. I did read through you site and do whole-heartedly disagree with your opinion...I got a little carried away...very passionate on this particular subject.

I do feel that the site aggressively disagrees with the beliefs of non-Roman churches, but this doesn't constitute religious intolerance, just an expression of opinion.

Of course, this forum is no place for a theological debate ;)

I apologise,

James
