OK ... 45 additional days have passed since my last query, how 'bout someone jiggling something with their elbows and getting these sites reviewed?

I realize that none of these categories have an editor. However, in some cases, submissions were made over two years ago.

Numerous persons (okay, at least three) have applied to edit the categories (including myself) and have all been rejected for whatever reasons.

Thanks for taking the time to read this rant. Now how do I get these sites reviewed?

I think there are probably two reasons for your post being overlooked.

1. It was offensive.
2. We are now requesting that webmasters wait six months between site submission requests.

I also apologize to Mike Nichols and Elaine May who won Broadway awards based on that line way back in the 60's.

Jezebel, that assumes that DMOZ editors won't bother to get around to those listings and categories for an additional 6 months. That type of negative attitude is frowned upon and offensive to many. Perhaps someone will jiggle something with their kneecaps and get them reviewed and listed before then.

Actually, those two URLs are mentioned in the following post where it was said that there was no evidence of them having been submitted to that category.

Let me confirm the way this Forum works ... we're only allowed to ask for updates on our submissions once every 6 months ... and the normal response is either (a) NO RESPONSE, (b) your site is still in the queue, we have no idea if/when it will be considered, (c) we don't see your submission, or (d) check back again in 6 months.

I realize that the site has just been moved to another server. That's wonderful. It would also be wonderful if I was given a professional and usable response to my query?

At the time that this site was reviewed, the URL wasn't working and the editor thought that the site was dead or gone. It was deleted from the system

As we have written in many threads in this forum, we don't help webmasters promote their web sites. We are building a directory and if we decide to list your site, we will list it.

donaldb - I truly thank you for your response. I will gladly resubmit sites that have been deleted from the queue.

I certainly understand the "mission" of DMOZ and this forum. However, I wonder if a site is "still waiting for review" after months and years, how can a decision be made whether or not to list it? Wouldn't that require actually review?

Over the years, qualified individuals (including myself) have applied to edit the categories involved. All have been turned down - some without even the courtesy of a form rejection notice.

donaldb, I do not question your personal integrity, whatsoever. In fact, your gentlemanly responses have always been appreciated. I wonder if the categories involved are not being reviewed due to written (or unwritten) DMOZ policy?

Like any category in the ODP, they are edited when an editor edits them Don't read too much into it. People edit where they have interest. There is 162 named editors in the Adult branch, and that doesn't include the hundreds of other editors with global editing permissions, so someone will eventually be editing in those categories. But the best advice is that you should submit your sites and then go and get on with your life. Don't sit around waiting for them to be listed in the ODP. Go out and market your sites as if the ODP didn't exist. If you're waiting for us to help with your marketing, you'll be very frustrated.
