Status of somatics.org?

We submitted our site http://somatics.org/ on Sept 8, 2004, and it has not yet appeared in the directory.

The submissions guidelines indicated we should post here if it hasn't shown up after a month. Can you tell us if there is a problem with our submission? If so, what would we need to do to correct the situation?

Hi-

I posted the category I submitted the site to in my previous post, right after your questions. I haven't heard back for a week, and your previous reply took only a day. I'm not complaining or rushing. I just realized, and guessed based on a comment in some moderator's posting somewhere else, that there may be some auto notify triggered when one posts: If that's so and it failed last time I posted, you may never know that I did post a reply.

So, just to make sure, I'm posting again. I hope that's okay. The category I submitted to is:

I look forward to hearing back from you. We are one of the 2 oldest sites worldwide on the topic of somatics (established the same time in 1996), and have a hugely difficult time getting noticed (despite a lot of effort!) as all these years we were too clueless to know about DMOZ and the need to be posted in it to get found.

It has been 6 months since I submitted our site and asked about its status. I was just wondering what the current status is.

I know the process can take a while, but I've seen a number of sites in our category and related categories that are new domains just recently registered and their sites just put up that are already listed in dmoz. So, I was just wondering is there was some problem with our site that would cause a delay or other problem?

You need to wait until 6 months from your last status report, not 6 months from submission. I believe that would be April 30.

I don't know what you mean by "site was registered". In this country at least you don't register sites. You register DOMAIN NAMES (with the internet registrars), but of course that doesn't mean you have a site to go with it -- so we don't care when that happened. You can SUGGEST sites (but in this rude and vicious world even that doesn't mean you have a site to go with it), so we don't really care when that happened either.

You can PUBLISH a site (I think this is what you mean by "put up"), but ... even that date doesn't really matter. All that matters to the reviewer is: is it PUBLISHED "now" or "not yet"?

As to how the reviewer picks which site to review first, you should think of it as random -- and it will often BE as near random as we can make it. (I often pick a piece of obvious spam, and start working down the list from there.)
