Hello, checking my logs for my website I seen there was a refferal from http://editors.dmoz.org/editors/editcat-unrev.cgi?cat=Recreation/... - is this an indication that my site was checked by an editor, and if so can I have the status please.

Yes, it is such an indicator; no, that doesn't obviate the 6-month time between status requests.
There are any number of reasons an editor could have visited the site, including to move it to another category. Wait a couple of weeks, then do a DMOZ search for the domain name (seafishingrigs). That should tell you whether the editor reviewed and listed the site.
