Normally we ask that you follow the Forum Guidelines (at the top of the forum, marked "READ BEFORE POSTING"), and post clickable links to the categories where you submitted.

However, in this case, I can tell you that neither of those sites will be listed. We might list the main site, http://www.kitchensource.com/ .

kitchensource.com

To avoid confusion, I have asked our moderators to lock the other two kitchensource threads here and here.

The url http://kitchensource.com/ is listed in Regional/North_America/United_States/Connecticut/Localities/T/Trumbull/Business_and_Economy/

and is being considered for possible inclusion in Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Kitchen_and_Dining.

It and its variations will be listed in no other categories. Please don't waste your time or ours by submitting elsewhere.

Should you wish to inquire about the status of that latter suggestion again, please wait at least a full calendar month and please reuse this thread rather than starting yet another one.

Dear dmoz editors,

It is obvious that my former collegue, Binod, did not read the submission guidelines for submitting sites to the open directory. On behalf of Kitchen Accessories Unlimited, I apologize for any frustration caused.

When kitchensource.com first started many years ago in the early 1990's it was a directory of kitchen dealers. It was an informatative site to start, but this is not longer the case.

Today, and since 1996, kitchensource.com is an e-commerce site specializing in kitchen and home products. We currently offer approximately 18,000 products. Until recently, Kitchen Accessories Unlimited was comprised of many different domains (including potracks.com, kitchencarts.com, gourmetracks.com...) We have decided to eliminate all of these domains and move all of our products into our main domain (kitchensource.com) By doing this we can create a better experience for our customers and build a stronger brand.

I understand that in the past Binod was submitting all of these domains to dmoz.org, which violates the TOS. I am well aware that this causes frustration for dmoz editors and I fully understand your TOS.

After familiarizing myself with the TOS, I requested that our site be moved from its current location (Regional: North America: United States: Connecticut: Localities: T: Trumbull: Business) It has been more than 30 days since my last request and I have had no word or seen the listing updated.

Is it possible for an editor to let me know if our site is pending review for a more appropiate category like: Shopping: Home and Garden: Kitchen and Dining. Any information on our site would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance for your time,
Kevin Gleeson

Kevin, I do not have editing rights in either category, so I cannot give you the status. I can relay some information, though. Since your site now gives a Stratford address, then your Regional listing should be moved to the Stratford: Buiness Category because Regional listings are based on the actual location of your business not where you market. However, it is not necessary to move your Regional listing to the Topical category. As of November last year it was waiting review in the Topical category. Most likely it is still waiting for an editor to review it. Shopping categories are very high spam areas of the directory. Editors have to wade though an awful lot of junk to list sites. You are allowed one Topical and one Regional listing. So maybe an editor with editing rights in Shopping can give a status on the Topical suggestion soon.

Kevin,

Your site suggestion is waiting for review in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Kitchen_and_Dining. (It was removed by mistake when a lot of duplicate submissions were cleared out, but has been returned to the pool of unreviewed.) If you haven't seen it listed in 6 months' time, you are welcome back to this thread to ask for status again, on or after March 18. Thank you.

Status of Kitchensource.com

Hello Dmoz Editors,

I have patiently waited the requested 6 months before coming back to the thread. I wonder if any of you can shed some light on the status of kitchensource.com.

I submitted to http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_G...chen_and_Dining.

Also, the local listing is not up tp date. We have relocated our offices. The new local listing would seem more appropiate in http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Connecticut/Localities/S/Stratford/ rather than http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_Amer...t/Localities/T/Trumbull/Business_and_Economy/

Thank you for taking the time to look into this and I look forward to hearing from you.

As to the local listing, do an "update URL" request on the current listing.

Published there, almost a week ago. :D

You may ask for status of your update in Regional one month after you submit it -- but many editors give priority to update requests, so you may not need to wait that long.

Is there a need? Some editors prefer the www, and some prefer to leave it off. It shouldn't matter to you if they both work.

I must say that I would have used the www in your case, as most, if not all, of the links on the site without the www add that www.

arubin,

Thanks again for the quick response. I suppose it does not matter in essence. I am just doing my best to keep everything organized and uniform. And, as you said, most, if not all, links in our site use the www in the URL.

Do you think it is worth requesting an Update URL?

Thanks again,
Kevin

Not to add www if the existing link works - if it were me I'd reject it and grumble about time-wasters. Yes to get the Regional listing changed to the proper locality.
