Complete Guide to Internet Affiliate Marketing

Listing in directories - Yahoo, DMOZ, industry listings etc

Do you realise exactly how many problems this sort of advice causes us?

Your site is sitting waiting for review. When this might happen is anyone's guess, maybe years down the road. You see we spend a lot of our time identifying and removing spam submissions of internet affiliate marketing sites, specifically banned by DMOZ, and I don't think anyone is going to leap to list a site advocating people to make the situation worse. Still, you never know. Revisit this thread in 6 months to find out if there has been any progress.

Thank you for prompt response oneeye!

Please allow me to explain a situation in few lines: The text you are reffering to is from article that has been written by guest author, as bobrat said, has his own website at http://www.marketingnous.com.au which is already listed in the DMOZ. The copyright is respected with the author resource box.
My intention was not to promote any spam techniques, nor this website is part of any spam network. It is even not part of any affiliate program, and you could say it is non-commercial, because you won't see any advertising on it. Which is not case with marketingnous.com.au .
The purpose of this website was to inform potential beginners about what affiliate programs are. Beside this text you mention I find there are quality articles that explain what ethic online business is and what is not.
On every page I ask visitors to give me their feedback. There is also my contact address with my phone number.

I respect what you said about the problems DMOZ editors have with the texts like this. In next few days, I will remove this article from the website. I will also post article about unethical ways of doing business on the internet, because this website has potential and is still waiting in the bulk of others including spam ones.

Sincerely,

Edvard Halupa

The thing is that I did sniff around the site and there wasn't an awful lot that was original. The only good thing is that at least you don't ask people for $100 to release a password so they can buy an e-book to see the information.

Most editors have an aversion to sites promoting affiliate marketing, because it makes life very difficult for us. So, the genre of sites to which your own site belongs may not be on the ban on sight list, but very few editors are interested in reviewing them. Therefore it may be a long wait, but who knows...

Telling your readers in no uncertain terms not to submit affiliate marketing sites to DMOZ won't get you reviewed any faster, nor will it make any difference to whether the site is accepted or rejected, only original content and lots of it will influence that. What it will do is give your readers accurate information, save them the hassle of getting rejected, and make our lives easier just a little. If all you guys pushed that same message then maybe we would have time to look at your own sites, and have more of an interest in listing them. Only a thought...
