status of www.bodybuildingpro.com

Hello, I run the web server that http://www.bodybuildingpro.com is hosted on, recently, the developer of the site asked me to help him with making his site easier to find.

Naturally, that included submitting his site to dmoz in what I considered to be the appropriate category (Sports: Strength Sports: Bodybuilding, at http://dmoz.org/Sports/Strength_Sports/Bodybuilding/ ).

I found out after I submitted on his behalf that he had tried to submit back in August, to which he received no response.

I hope this possibly duplicate submission won't create any problems for him. (Reason I say "possibly duplicate submission" is because when I was helping him go through his email folder, we found no dmoz confirmation email).

But, throwing that aside, if he applied for his listing in August, shouldn't he have heard something back by now?

Does anyone have any suggestions how to improve his site's chances of getting listed on dmoz? Or any information about the status of the application?

bodybuilding.pro is waiting for review in the category you indicated, with the submission date Oct 16. There is no duplicate submission in that category - usually a second submission of the same URL overwrites any earlier submission. And even if it didn't, a single resubmission of a single URL won't be seen as spamming.

Editors very, very rarely contact the submitters of the sites they publish, and there is no automatic notifying process. Normally the way to find out if a site has been listed is to look for it in the directory!

If you want further status updates, please wait at least a calendar month, and if you haven't seen it listed by then you can come back and ask for an update - please use this same thread. Thanks

Normally, news about sites that don't work or otherwise shouldn't be listed should go in this thread. But I see little value in asking you to post over there so I can go over there and read it and take care of it, when I can (and did) more easily handle it from here. Thanks much for pointing it out. If you find others though, please post them there.

I'm afraid we've learned the hard way not to discuss the status of a category. The numbers are meaningless anyway. There's just no way to tell when things will get done, though we're pretty sure they'll happen sometime.

And the status of your suggestion is that it awaits review.

I'm the webmaster of http://www.bodybuildingpro.com and thought I would request an update. It has been a year since the initial submission and I'm wondering what the current status is. My website is among the most comprehensive bodybuilding websites online and contains many free articles, photos, a forum, and a links directory. I think it would be an asset to include it in the directory and I'm wondering why it hasn't been yet?

The correct answer to arubin's post would have been "Thank you.".

You've gotten your suggestion status update and that is that your site is awaiting review. Anything else is inappropriate for this forum, hence the deletion of all of the posts between arubin's above and this one (sorry, had to delete the responses when I deleted the inappropriate posts or they wouldn't have made sense). This forum (and I mean the entire RZ forum, not just this subforum) is not here to discuss why your site isn't listed yet, why it takes so long, whether or not editors are doing "their jobs", or anything else concerning how the ODP operates.

Oh, and the deletion of the above posts is not an invitation for you to continue your comments in another thread in another forum here.

Feel free to come back to this thread anytime after April 15, 2005, to get a status update on this particular site.
