Hello all

I am writing to find the status of:
www.CyberRentals.com

In relation to being added to:
http://www.dmoz.com/Recreation/Travel/Lodging/Vacation_Rentals/Directories/

I have been recently been given the task of learning our listing status and in my travels/research, found this forum (thank the heavens). Any information that you can share with me will be greatly appreciated. From what I have learned, the site has been submitted several times to be added over the past few years (which I recently learned is a no-no and will cease as of this email). I know you guys are all volunteers so thanks in advance for helping me out.

Take care and have a good one

A submission dated 11-Jun-2003 is awaiting review in that category, along with nearly 200 others. This could take quite a while.

And yes, someone has been very prolific in the past at submitting deeplinks of this domain. I would definitely advise that this practice stop.

Thanks a lot Alucard.

I have no idea as to the exact nature and frequency of the site/pages being submitted, when I asked my boss about it after reading on these forums, he told me "several times." Deeplinking, eh? Good thing I read up on all that stuff as before yesterday, I had no idea what that meant. I'm learning a lot here and am new to all of this. I'll do my best to see that this stops also. Another concern, however. I just spoke with Hunter (my boss) and he said that they have not been submitting deeplinks recently, but there may be others floating in various queues in other directory categories. Is there a way that we can get those removed/deleted form the queues now to eliminate potential problems? I'm sure you know as well as I do that bosses are rarely the patient sort, and they submitted those links in an attempt to get listed on ODP without thinking of (or not aware of) the rammifications of their actions. Is there anything we can do on our end, aside from not submitting anymore) to go back in and retract those earlier submissions? Or will they be automatically deleted when they are found?

The main goal is to get our site listed eventually on ODP. I understand that these things take time, so I will stress to the powers-that-be that patience (and following of the rules...hehe) is in order from this point forward.

Thanks again for looking into that for me.
Stay safe

Jason,

Have no fear - any lingering deeplinks will be deleted as they are found.

You have this forum to stay up to date with the status of the listing for the "root" URL (the one you asked about).

You have done all you can (and you deserve a raise, as far as I'm concerned just for bothering to read around and understand before you posted here ) - now you (and your company) have to be patient.

Thanks
