Several months ago I submitted my site www.discoverfriuli.com in this category:

Since I haven't seen my site listed in the directory yet I was wondering if you received my submission or if I failed in submitting it in the right section or else.

I was thinking that since I first submitted my website, some changes have been made to it.
I do not offer only culinary tours, but also other types of tours (classic tours, study tours, wine tours, etc.), so maybe the most appropriate section would be:

http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Italy/Travel_and_Tourism/Travel_Services/Tour_Operators/

Is it possible to move the submission to this new section? If so, how can I do it? Will I have to start all over again?

We ask people to wait 6 months between requests for status checks, so you'd have to wait about two more months for that.

If, however, you think the site fits the tour operators category better than the culinary travel category to which it was previously suggested, you may suggest the site to the tour operators category.
