Status of www.gcdatabay.com

Hi Open Directory! My first post to this forum. All very exciting. Earlier this month, I took a one day class on increasing search engines and found out how important it was to submit to DMOZ accurately. A couple years ago, I posted www.gcdatabay.com to the wrong category with a description that didn't do our program justice. Over a year ago, I did attempt to change to it but to no avail. And, frankly, I can't remember the steps I had taken.

What our site needs to say is this...

It needs to be in Top: Computers: Software: Industry-Specific: Construction
(main category - most important category for us) and also under subcategories of Accounting, Estimating and Project Management.

Can you help me or do I need to do anything else order for the site to post in the right categories with the right description? Or is posting a request for help here all I need to do?

And, our program does quite a bit. Is there a limit to how many categories we can submit to?

Firstly it is very important to understand the difference between your needs and the needs of the ODP and its users. A high percentage of the time they will be at opposite ends of the spectrum.

For our purposes we pay zero attention to SEO tactics and the needs for keywords. The description you presently have is perfect for our needs and the needs of our users in as much as it provides the user with information as to what/who you are and also what can be found on your site should they choose to visit it. Any change of the description is only likely to occur if your business was to change focus making the description factually incorrect.

If however you feel that the category is incorrect I would recommend that you complete an update request from within http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Accounting/Construction/ (where the site is presently listed) making a note as to why you feel the move is appropriate.

<added>I forgot the last bit. Please do not make multiple category submissions as this is contrary to our our guidelines and submission policy. Any decision as to possible multiple listing will be made at the time of review.

Leer - I really appreciate your help. The last 3 weeks has been a huge learning curve for me. I had no idea what I didn't know I didn't know. This whole time, we had the "built it and they'll come naiveté". We thought as long as we created the best software presented on a very professional site... you know what I mean. This looks like the sort of business that has a geographic focus. Where's the main office? Does it matter (that is, do you do more work in that general area?)

If it matters, then submit also to the locality in Regional containing the main office. This is one of those (rare) cases where your interests (more incoming links) and ours (better representation for locality categories) coincides.
