Are there any tips you could give me that might give me a better chance of being included for when I resubmit. We've got "unique" content (advice, tips etc) on our site and we're always adding new articles. Is there any way to find out what turned the reviewer off the site?

Thanks very much for your help.

Well, but the "unique" content isn't relevant to the main purpose of the site (which is advertising insurance).

The main purpose of the site is unmistakeably and undisputably to drive commercial traffic to other businesses -- that is, it's a doorway.

Ergo, we are by explicit and specific staff edict not permitted to list it.

There's nothing you can do about that: it is, no doubt, the site you wanted. It is just not a site that WE want. There's no commonality of interest.

That's fine: it's a big internet. There are zillions of sites that would be willing to form a common interest with you based on hopes for profit. But you should count on the ODP not being on of them.

Thanks for for your reply.

Please don't think that I'm trying to argue with you, I'm just trying to understand why our site was declined. I really do appreciate your help. :)

Could you tell me how our site differs from some of the other companies included in that section. We are an insurance company that sells insurance in the same way as Adrian Flux or Diamond Car insurance, what is it about our site that means we are not elligible but they are?

I understand that you have to be very specific about who is included, especially with the number of submissions that you receive, thanks for your help.

A site doesn't get listed because of the ways it is like other sites. It gets listed because of the ways it is different from other sites.

Hi Girlmotor,

I'm a beginner to the dmoz myself, but I would suggest from what is written above that your site was rejected, whereas the other two you mention weren't, due to the fact that all aspect of your site seem to link to other sites. I know as an internet user myself or many years, this is very frustrating. I can guess that Diamond Car Insurance don't want to loose visitors to their site to other insurance sites!?
