Dear EllyG

Please could you let me know the status of http://www.infobasis.com?

It was submitted to:

1. http://dmoz.org/Business/Human_Resources/Consulting/
2. http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Human_Resources/

on 28th June 2004.

On the same date, I successfully submitted www.infobasis.com to:

http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Human_Resources/Testing_and_Evaluation/

I don't know if www.infobasis.com was thought inappropriate for the other 2 sites, or if my submission went missing.

Many thanks for your help in this matter. Like all users, I appreciate the work you put into maintaining and growing this directory.

Typically a website is listed only once. Since your site was listed in the Testing and Evaluation category, the other submissions were deleted as duplicates.

Thanks: a question and an observation

Donwiebe, :)

Thanks for the clarification - I didn't appreciate that sites can now only go into one category. I notice that some other sites are in more than one category, but I appreciate that as DMOZ grows, the bar gets higher, and this is the way it is now.

I have one question and one observation.

Question: What happens if I decide that the first category I posted into may not be the best for us? (For example, I believe that users are more likely to look in another category first.)

Observation: you may wish to change the text in the first message in this forum, 'ATTENTION - Forum Guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING'. This uses the following text, which suggests that it is possible to post to more than one category:

Thanks again for your help and your work on DMOZ.

Yes, a good observation. I apologise; I should have said "Typically a website is listed only once in the topical categories." (That is, outside of [cat]World/[/cat] and [cat]Regional/[/cat]). You may, if you wish, submit your site to the appropriate [cat]Regional/[/cat] category as well, which in your case appears to be [cat=Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Oxfordshire/Abingdon/Business_and_Economy/]Abingdon[/cat].

To answer your other question, if you think the site has been miscategorised, you may submit an update request (using the "update listing" link in the category in which the site is currently listed). When filling out the update request, please don't forget to explain the reason why you think the site should be moved to the new category.
