I don't have permission to check the pool where you made your submission, but I can verify that no editor has touched it (moved, deleted, added or written notes) yet.

Okay. Does this mean I should just wait, and check back in a month or so? Thanks.
No, it means that you weren't given a complete answer yet. :) Sorry about the confusion - we have switched to some new forum software and it's taking a while for the editors to get back online and into the "swing" of things.

There is a submission of this URL to this category dated 24/Jan/2004 which is awaiting editor review in that category.

OK, now you have a complete answer, so NOW you can just wait and check back in a month or so. Thanks :)

bumping status of www.lindamoran.net

I haven't gotten an answer yet to this month's request for status (May 11). So I'm bumping again. Thank you.

My six month ping for www.lindamoran.net

Hello. It's been six months, so I'm pinging to find out the status of
www.lindamoran.net

The category is http://dmoz.com/Arts/Literature/Authors/Non-fiction/

However, I've learned over time that there is another category which might be even better. But if I change the category now, do I have to wait another year, as though I were starting from scratch? I'm not sure what to do. Can you guys give me some advice? Both categories are appropriate. I'm thinking I should leave it alone, and once my site is in DMOZ, then see if I can change categories. Is this a good idea? Thank you so much.

(The new category, if I changed it, could be:
http://dmoz.com/Arts/Writers_Resources/Freelancing/)

Your suggestion is still awaiting review. We can't predict when that might be. If it hasn't been listed in 6 months, please ask again in this same thread.

Some editors (including me) would consider it to be a part of http://www.betterwaypress.com/ from and to which it is linked. That a website has been spread across multiple domain names doesn't make it eligible for multiple listings I'm afraid.

My two sites are separate

Hi Jim. My two websites are not one website "spread across multiple domains." www.lindamoran.net and www.betterwaypress.com are two separate websites. One is my writer site. The other is an independent publishing company, which I own. They have two separate purposes and do not exist for the purpose of cross-linking. My personal writer site exists for editors to see my article clips and contact me with freelance assignments, and also for me to offer writer advice and information to other writers. The publisher site, on the other hand, offers a book, two free subscribable newsletters, and some articles, all by different authors. In the future I expect to continue to expand the authors published by Betterway Press. Professional writer sites should always be separate from independent publisher sites. Please consider viewing these two websites separately, as I intended. Perhaps because I have only one style of building websites, they've ended up looking similar, but that's where the similarity ends. This is only a reflection of my lack of imagination and html coding skills! :) Thank you for your hard work. I am hopeful to get both of my sites into DMOZ soon. (I've worked so hard on them--sigh.)

The issue is not with their similar look (which doesn't matter), nor yet duplicated content (which doesn't exist), but that the sites are "related" by our definition: by the same entity and with a business not yet adequately separable. (Was Ben Franklin an author or a publisher?)

If you don't cross-link them -- we'd say: the person most interested in them doesn't consider them worth linking to -- and that pretty much logically eliminates any necessity for ever reviewing either one of them at all!

If you do cross-link them, we'd consider one a deeplink of the other, and list it only if meets the criterion of an "exceptional" case. But that decision won't be made here, and will in all likelihood be made by someone who has not read this thread.

But as for submitting: since the sites are indubitably and indisputably related, you are cautioned to read the submittal policies on THAT subject.

Okay I understand.

Okay, I got it. Thanks to each of you--Hutcheson and JimNoble for helping me with this. Now I must figure out what to do. Do you suggest that I withdraw one site? If so, how do I do that? What are your opinions about which one is better for me to keep in, lindamoran.net or betterwaypress.com? Or doesn't it matter much? Alternatively, should I just leave both in as submissions and let the editors decide which one to accept?

Thanks again for all the work you guys do.

Haven't heard back

I haven't heard back an answer to my question, and am not sure whether it's because you don't want to offer any specific advice, or whether it could be simply because my question was overlooked by mistake. Given that my two sites are related (although it was never my intent to "spread one site across two domains"), I'm wondering if I'm inadvertently causing the process of getting into the directory to be slowed down. I just want to do the right thing, and I've waited for so long! Perhaps I could just have one site submitted instead of both, but I really don't know what to do. Thanks for all your painstaking efforts on DMOZ, and I'd appreciate any guidance. Or pity would be nice too. :)

Respectfully, Linda Moran
