I think that this activity might have been done by any of our competitors. We apologize for any mistake committed at our end. But it's simply impossible for us to keep track for any submissions done by any other person intentionally, which might result in not listing our site.
I don't for one minute believe it was someone not related to the interest in listing this site. It does not follow a pattern that would be there if a competetor was trying to cause problems, whether it is you or the site owner--this was done by someone who wanted the site listed in as many places as possible, not someone who wanted it blacklisted. Many of the submits were to regional categories, just once, such as one submit to Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/Regional/North_America/United_States/Alabama, another to Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/Regional/North_America/United_States/Colorado, another to Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/Regional/North_America/United_States/Connecticut. The repeat ones appear to the same category appear to be done at different times. If someone was trying to spam a competetor's site it would be more like numerous times to one cat all in a row--rather than to one specific cat once here, then again later, then again later. It doesn't make sense that this was something done to you by someone else. Unfortunately, part of the problem here is a result of all those submissions.
Regardless, the site has been evaluated by someone qualified in this area. As shown
here , spam is a valid reason for denial. As a courtesy I have emailed the editor who evaluated your site, and gave this thread address in case that editor is interested in checking further which is more than fair I believe. It would likely be worthwhile to note from the
guideline thread in this forum which includes:
- If your site has been rejected, please keep in mind that arguing about the editorial decision will not be tolerated. [/list:u]
- This forum is not intended for site reviews or spam reports. Please do not discuss any aspect of the site except its submission status. "Rejected, and not likely to be accepted anywhere" is a reasonable status. [/list:u]
I'll be thankful if you could look into the issue once more and suggest some way out.
I believe that my emailing the most recent editor is more than a fair solution. As stated above, there are valid reasons for denial and your site had not been mishandled on our end. It is up to that editor, who has a lot of experience in this branch of the ODP, if they would like to evaluate the site again, based on hearing what you have had to say here. Participation in this forum is not required and he or she may or may not post a response here. In addition, that editor's identity is confidential. All I can say that the editor is now aware of this thread and he or she may feel differently that I do about whether or not your site should be listed. That is the best that I can offer, and I think that is more than fair considering the site was denied for clearly valid reasons.
