1) What is so difficult in the guide for adding sites which states: "Choose the single best category"? Submitting to dozends of totally unrelated categories will not do you any good.

2) Apart from that editors had access problems and felt its not the apropriate category. Result: Submission not accepted.

1) Rejected. See http://dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html#notinclude for our reasons to reject sites.

2) Please stop submitting to totally inapropriate places. That wont help you get it listed. Only result is, that editors are annoyed that they have to delete so many submissions instead of doing more usefull editor work.

Hi windharp,

How is this possible.

Please stop submitting to totally inapropriate places

We have submitted to the category after a discussion at resource-zone itself. The category has been suggested by an Editall - Robert (uzs980) to us as the most suitable category to be posted in.

Please go through the discussion at

http://www.resource-zone.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=status&Number=20472&page=16&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

and suggest us the possible measures we can adopt to get the site listed.

Thanks & Regards

Before doing that you (or at least someone - but I guess that strangers rarely submit such sites) submitted the site to several other categories.

[EDIT]

Thats why you should stay in a single thread. Please reuse your old thread. We cant possibly remember all the n*100 sites we visited in the last weeks, so dont blame me for forgetting that I already told you the same I did in this thread.

Please continue discussion in the old thread mentioned above

I am sorry, but I was not aware of that. The client might have posted himself, to different categories in order to get listed. Please suggest, what all can we do to resolve the problem.

Please provide me a solution. I do not understand what to do. Shall I resubmit to the same category, if it has been rejected and deleted. Please clear the situation.

Thanks & Regards

The site was again declined on March 8 because the editor was unable to "review/find profiles" in the category of Society/Relationships/Dating/Advice. It was also deemed not appropriate to that category. 3 days later it was rejected as being a duplicate in http://dmoz.org/Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/Specialized/ by the exact same editor who viewed it a few days earlier and was unable to view the site. It appears when you stated you resubmitted you again resubmitted to TWO categories instead of the one most appropriate.

In addition, I have counted approximately 20 times (in at least 16 different categories) that this site has viewed by editors and deemed inappropriate. I would consider this to be spam...it is being submitted over and over and over again in a short amount of time. I imagine that is working against you in addition to the fact the editor tried to view the site and couldn't and the fact we have been spammed with submissions is very evident. It is not that no one has tried to review this site, it has been given many chances and deemed inappropriate.

[edited to add] ODP has guidelines in regards to spamming the directory View Guidelines, personally I would not list this site.

Thanks for your quick update about resubmissions that have taken place over last few months for medicalloveconnection.
This submission was done along with the username and password after the previous discussion and as suggested by Robert.

I have been working with submissions in DMOZ for quite a long time now and am aware of the guidelines. I was not aware of the fact that more than 20 submissions have been done for this domain over a short period.

As per my knowledge, over the last 3 months, we have done submissions only 3 times and out of them, the last one was as per the discussions over resource-zone.com. (Our client has also denied any submisssions on their part)

I think that this activity might have been done by any of our competitors. We apologize for any mistake committed at our end. But it's simply impossible for us to keep track for any submissions done by any other person intentionally, which might result in not listing our site.

I'll be thankful if you could look into the issue once more and suggest some way out.

I don't for one minute believe it was someone not related to the interest in listing this site. It does not follow a pattern that would be there if a competetor was trying to cause problems, whether it is you or the site owner--this was done by someone who wanted the site listed in as many places as possible, not someone who wanted it blacklisted. Many of the submits were to regional categories, just once, such as one submit to Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/Regional/North_America/United_States/Alabama, another to Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/Regional/North_America/United_States/Colorado, another to Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/Regional/North_America/United_States/Connecticut. The repeat ones appear to the same category appear to be done at different times. If someone was trying to spam a competetor's site it would be more like numerous times to one cat all in a row--rather than to one specific cat once here, then again later, then again later. It doesn't make sense that this was something done to you by someone else. Unfortunately, part of the problem here is a result of all those submissions.

Regardless, the site has been evaluated by someone qualified in this area. As shown here , spam is a valid reason for denial. As a courtesy I have emailed the editor who evaluated your site, and gave this thread address in case that editor is interested in checking further which is more than fair I believe. It would likely be worthwhile to note from the guideline thread in this forum which includes:

  • If your site has been rejected, please keep in mind that arguing about the editorial decision will not be tolerated. [/list:u]
    • This forum is not intended for site reviews or spam reports. Please do not discuss any aspect of the site except its submission status. "Rejected, and not likely to be accepted anywhere" is a reasonable status. [/list:u]
I'll be thankful if you could look into the issue once more and suggest some way out.

I believe that my emailing the most recent editor is more than a fair solution. As stated above, there are valid reasons for denial and your site had not been mishandled on our end. It is up to that editor, who has a lot of experience in this branch of the ODP, if they would like to evaluate the site again, based on hearing what you have had to say here. Participation in this forum is not required and he or she may or may not post a response here. In addition, that editor's identity is confidential. All I can say that the editor is now aware of this thread and he or she may feel differently that I do about whether or not your site should be listed. That is the best that I can offer, and I think that is more than fair considering the site was denied for clearly valid reasons.

Hi Lin,

Many thanks for your concern. I really appreciate for every effort you made for us. I understand, that a site may be rejected for valid reasons and hope the editor would understand my problem and give us one more chance to get our site accepted.

Thanks & Regards

Your site hasn't been in the queue since it was deleted in March. I take it you didn't bother resubmitting it after Kokopeli's last message.

But he said it was rejected and he forwarded this thread to the editor. So , what I understood was that listing is still in the queue waiting to be reviewed by the editor. So, I did not post it again fearing of making a duplicate entry once again.

Shall I resubmit it again? Please Confirm.

Regards

Guddu
