Read the ODP guidelines for the possible reasons

First "How to suggest a site to the Open Directory"
http://www.dmoz.org/add.html

And then "Sites Generally Not Included"
http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html#notinclude

Thanks pvgool. I actually read these prior to designing the site as the revenue is affiliate based and i wanted to make sure it provided something different to avoid being type-cast . But i made sure my content was unique and documented plenty of info thats not available on other sites...it took me an age. Thats why i was querying the reason really.

Is it worth re-submitting with a note about the unique content so the reviewer understands why it is different?

No, it certainly is not a good idea.
The site itself must show us the "unique" content.
Tip: menatly remove all affilate links and all text made up just to send visitors to those links - the leftovers could be unique content
Are there enough leftovers and can they easely be found. If the answer is no we won't list the site.
