www.oibrealty.com is an entirely seperate entity....at least according to it's incorporation statement and the government.

Is listing replacement an option?

I don't know why you'd want to replace the current listing, since it is listed in a higher, more general category, and has links to the other related sites.

Maybe you can help me out.....I'm not seeing the listing that's being referred to.

If it's listed somewhere else......please help the blind man out

Here's where I get confused
Whatuseek appears to have some affliation with DMOZ (note image)???
Does DMOZ or vice versa provide result return???

I realize they have their own directory listings. As the above posts also note the URL www.oibrealty.com is located Somewhere in the DMOZ directory. So again I ask where?
The whatuseek.com directory seems to be able to return the correct result for my listing (see quote below); at the very least list it in the correct directory. How can I get DMOZ to follow suit with a pay directory it supports?

Let's clear the air a bit here.

First, this mesasge board is about the Open Directory Project, so what whatseek does or does not list is interesting, but essentially off topic and simply clouds the water.

Second, you have been told that oibrealty is not listed and will not be listed, so seaching here and there and asking us to explain is both off topic and clouds the water.

Why don't we begin by having you give us complete list of all the URLs that your company and its parent companies and affiliated companies own, and we will determine what site gets listed, and where. Without complete disclosure on your part, our ability to assist you and give you comprehensive answers is serverly limited.

Otherwise, there is nothing else we can do to assist.

I repeat that www.oibrealty.com is NOT listed in ODP, and will not be listed. It was listed at one time, but was REMOVED since you violated the submission rules. The reason is that you have a significant number of other sites that you have been submitting and that one of those sites had been listed. I'm sure you know which one has been listed.

Continuing to submit all these other sites is against the ODP guidlines, and may cause your existing site to be removed.

If you wish to discuss this further please divulge all the other sites that you own.

A number of directory sites use ODP information with permission by following certain rules, the site you mention is using ODP data and fails to follow the rules, and also contains out of date information.

1. Ok progress. Fantastic. Thank you. I do see a few of our "Separate Entity" websites listed. I do not however see any policy or guideline on the DMOZ website that explicitly details a "Relationship" issue. However since it's your show...I'll be more than happy to comply with any request you have. I can pretty much see where you're going with this.

2. If it helps The ONLY 2 companies out of the following list that I'd have issue against any removal would be:

oibrealty.com (I’d like to have listed)
islanderinn.com (Listed)

So hope this will make it real easy for you:

On my re-reading of the guidelines I did find this rather interesting:
"We will make the most comprehensive, user-friendly directory possible, so the content and taxonomy will be widely used and distributed."

Being that my "Company" and it's subsidiaries reside in, around and own Ocean Isle Beach, NC its kind of curious that there would be so much resistance to me listing "Services & Businesses" that are found only in the Ocean Isle Beach community. Some might argue that the ODP is lacking "Comprehensive" data for Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Just by looking at the results ("ocean isle beach, nc") If it we're up to me...There'd be about 50 other Businesses I could list with no relationship to my company, but I won't cloud the issue. Decide to be Comprehensive.

Yes I know, "If I don't like it...bugger off" hard part bout that is the ODP is licensed in such away folks like whatuseek/Netscape/Lycos/Looksmart....oh and Google all seem to be turning to ODP for quite a large portion of their search results.

So I can't have my legitimate businesses listed? Even if they're part of everyday life on the island of Ocean Isle Beach, NC? Fascinating. OK do what you must.

3. The Only Site I can recall submitting in the last 6 months www.oibrealty.com....but I could be wrong. Your last post would have helped me digest the issue about 100 times better than the first one.

4.If your site has been rejected, please keep in mind that arguing about the editorial decision will not be tolerated. Please note that at the bottom of the "add URL" screen it says "Netscape and the ODP have unfettered editorial discretion to determine the structure and content of the directory" and "a site's placement in the directory is subject to change or deletion at any time"

As a side note I'm not arguing I'm merely trying to get my site listed in what "I think" is an important venue for the "Exchange of Information"
