Status of www.orderofthemagi.org.uk

A couple of months ago I asked that the link to www.orderofthemagi.co.uk listed under http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Arts_and_Entertainment/Performing_Arts/Magic/ be changed to www.orderofthemagi.org.uk.

Now unfortunately we've had to change the url due to politics within the steering committee. We are in a situation where we have no control whatsoever over the old .co.uk address which now returns a 403 error thanks to all of the old pages being removed and therefore had to set up the .org.uk address.

How can we proceed with this? Obviously you have concerns over hijacked sites and we can't put a 301 on the old .co.uk address.

What would be the best way forward on this?

Go to that category and do an update on the old URL - mention the new URL in the note.

It would be better if the old URL site said something about moving, then the editor knows for sure that the sites were related. But it should work.

Many thanks for the quick response, I agree it would be better if there was something on the old site about the link moving, but alas it's not to be.

No sign of any previous update request, but I've just actioned today's (whilst processing all the UK ones anyway) .

Many thanks for actioning that so quickly, I did request an update before today..honest.
Presumably the other link to the defunct .co.uk address will wither away once it's clear it's a dead link.
