Not really a good idea, as every re-submission may overwrite a previous one and push you back to the end of the queue (if sorted by submission date).

Is there any way to push it back to the top? Any ETA on when the review will occur? If you look at your records, the first submission was in mid 2002.

I didn't know about this site (nor the rules) until just today.

We had previously waited several months without resubmitting with no results, hence the resubmit.

There is no top to the queue. Editors can sort all waiting sites in several ways. One of them is by 'date submitted'. But no-one can predict how the editor of this category will handle the waiting sites.
Your site is waiting for review. The only thing you can do now is wait.

To say that there is a "list" or "queue" of sites waiting for review is not quite true, as it makes it sound as if the reviewing editor will start with the first one and work his way down the list. In fact, an editor can sort the pool of listed sites in several different ways, and is not required to follow any specific order in reviewing them. So not only is there no way to "push a site to the top", there is no "top" to be pushed to!
As for the question about estimated time until review: no, we really can't know that. It depends on when one of the volunteer editors with editing privileges in that category decides to look at it. It could happen in a week's time, but it could also take another year or longer.

And to add a footnote - to revert back to an old submission, so that it has an older date, is not possible. When we say that a newer one overwrites the old one, we mean just that - it obliterates the old one.

Any update would be appreciated!

Also, any suggestions that might get us into the directory quicker would also be appreciated. We have several thousand pages of content (available from our home page) that we consider very relevant to the category, that is difficult to find elsewhere.

The site is still awaiting review in the category to which it was submitted.
