Hello,

I have submitted my site a few times, with no response. It is a little frustrating because I know of other sites that are listed on it that are purely affilate stuff, but I cannot get my actual pet store up.

My URL is: http://www.petsupplyonline.com
The category I have been attempting to get listed in: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Pets/

I used to be an editor a long time ago, so I know it is hard to put in the time, but I even tried contacting this admin and no response. Could someone help me? Thank you so very much! Dmoz is a great resource and I really appreciate the time the editors put in. Thanks again!!

Your submission of was only two days ago, 7 July 2003.

In our forum guidelines we ask that you wait "at least" a month before asking for a submission status. In this case I would suggest waiting 3-4 months before asking again as there are hundreds of other sites waiting to be reviewed in the category.

It's most likely that previous submissions were overwritten with each submission.

Well I've been trying for a year, every 4 or so months to get on dmoz. I just tried again a couple days ago again, but was hoping that there was a problem with that category or something. Should it take over a year?

By "idealistic" standards? No! Since the ODP has a shortage of active editors, it "may" take longer than a year, but we certainly hope not.

Please remember that each time you submit the site, it may very well be overwriting the submission currently waiting causing the site to return to the bottom of the queue should an editor to decide to work them by date.

As a former editor, you should know that categories can be edited in a variety of ways. Just depends on how an editor who chooses to edit a category decides.

It is also important to note what raggedyrugs said before your post above about new submissions overwriting old...by continually resubmitting you are esentially sending your site back to the bottom of the queue if an editor decides to sort by date (editors do not have to do so, they can edit a number of ways but some--like me--edit according to submission date and looking at the oldest submission first) and if that is the case your site would keep going to the bottom of the list because your newer submission date is overwriting the older submission date. My advice would be to leave it be now that you know and hang tight. As mentioned above that category is backlogged and receives a large number of submissions.
