Google does use DMOZ data, but Google is not DMOZ. Your site is listed at http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Ethnic_and_Regional/Asian/Indian/. Because DMOZ is a directory and not a search engine, you won't find it by searching for your site. In addition, your site was just listed, and would not have had time to be included in Google's use of DMOZ data. <img src="/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Shows "Last update: 12:32 PT, Thursday, March 27, 2003 - edit" apparently public side isn't showing yet, site was added on March 30 so the information you pasted is outdated. I was looking at the editor site which shows it listed. Sorry, DMOZ has been having some server problems--should be updated soon for all to see.

The Open Directory (formerly NewHoo) is a human-compiled guide to the web, not a search engine that gets its listings automatically by crawling your pages.

As you have already beign listed in an appropriate category for your site. The information in your site's ODP description, rather than on your web pages, is what affects how you are ranked.

You can find more information here: http://dmoz.org/searchguide.html

Now, your site is not found on OPD - when searched, is because the search database is updated periodically - the date of the last update is specified at the bottom of the search results pages - and as such it may take a while for your site to be reflected in the results. This might take about two to four weeks; also not many people use DMOZ search and its basically not meant to be used like a commercial search engine (example Google.com)

About sites, which use OPD data: http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/Directories/Open_Directory_Project/Sites_Using_ODP_Data/

These are only using the ODP data and it doesn't mean that once your site get added in a particular category it atomically get added in these too. Your site will appear in these sites once they update their database, this might take about three to six months.

Umesh

I am confused...It seems that u have not understood my question. I am talking about DMOZ not any other search engine.
I am listed in dmoz directory. but if i give search for my site keyword or even www.shoprightaway.com or shoprightaway ( On DMOZ and NOT any other search engine)my site does not shOW up on DMOZ.
IF i look at the bottom of the result page of the dmoz It shows "Search database last updated on: Wed Mar 5 15:56:53 PST 2003" meaning that data have been updated after my site was listed.

As was stated above, your site was listed on 30th March. The dmoz search page currently says "Search database last updated on: Wed Mar 26", so your site won't be included yet. Please be patient.
