Well, this is the only mechanism for discussing status. And there isn't a mechanism for justifying editorial actions to submitters.

The site is waiting in that category for an editor to review it. If you don't see it listed in six months, you can bump this thread to ask again -- very occasionally a submittal slips through the cracks.

By the way, since the clinic is at a fixed location, you may submit to the Locality's Health subcategory also. The two listings would be reviewed by different editors, by different criteria (that is, any given site might be acceptable in both, either, or neither place). But the Regional listings often get reviewed more quickly than the topical ones.

There is no editor for this category. I volunteered but was rejected because I have a vested interest in two sites that should be listed.

Six months?? If history is any indication (the site has already been waiting for over a year), I might as well give up. I wouldn't worry about it so much if it weren't for the fact that Google Directory uses DMOZ listings.....

AND -- a Google Search for "gastric bypass surgery" returns dmoz.org/Health/Medicine/Surgery/ General/Obesity_Surgery/Surgeons_and_Clinics at the #10 spot!

Consequently, those sites that have managed to get included in DMOZ have an unfair advantage.

And ... if you have taken your content (all on the same subject, and from the same source) and spread it across two websites in order to get multiple listings in the same category ... why don't you get that straight right now, before someone who DOESN'T read this forum notices, and rejects BOTH sites, with extreme prejudice, for vicious spamming, in gross and liable violation of the submittal guidelines?

nea:
I understand the process (Editalls, Metas, etc.) but when I first submitted this site in April of 2003, I recall that there were 84 sites listed. Now there are only 77. Wouldn't you agree that 15 months seems like a rather long time? If not, can you at least give me a rough idea of how long it takes, on average, for a site to be reviewed?

The other site I mentioned is www.surgicalclinicofca.com, which I think I first submitted in June of 2003, and is a completely different site. While both sites are surgical practices and both offer bariatric surgery, they are two different entities as even a cursory comparison of the surgeons' names, office addresses and contact info would readily show. This should NOT qualify as SPAMMING, even though much of the bariatric content is the same (the bariatric surgeons of the two clinics were once partners and agreed to let me use similar content on their respective sites).

I didn't submit either site to the regional categories for fear of being suspected of spamming and because both clinics market their services to patients throughout the U.S. and Canada. However, if you are telling me that I can safely do so without being accused of spamming, I will gladly follow your recommendations.
