I've waited couple of months already for DMOZ to include in the directory. Could anyone update me what's happening to it? Or what isn't happening?? www.HomeSaleDIY.com Homepage

Desired Category would be: Business > Real Estate > Residential > For Sale By Owner

Don't be surprised at all if it does take longer than a few months. Shopping receives a lot of submissions, many of them bogus, and working through the category takes a lot of time and patience.

Additionally, any site dealing with real estate tends to get the "I thought I saw a puddy kat" kind of scrutiny, since some of our more inventive, but inappropriate, submissions come from the RE community.

In other words, be patient, keep working on unique content, an editors will take a look at it eventually -- it may just take a while.

The site was previously indexed in DMOZ but for some reason it just suddenly *Boom*, gone! That really broke my heart...It was sometime in June. Now I gotta resumit and wait...

Can we find out what 'number' we are in the waiting line? It's like we have no control over anything except to wait. It is so frustrating. I am not trying to complaint to you guys...cause I know you guys are doing to best you could for us.

Also should I submit every page in the website to DMOZ or would it only accept the index page?

Maybe you are mixing up the Yahoo directory with DMOZ, your site is listed in Yahoo [India and Asia directories], and appears to be missing from the rest of Yahoo's directories.

The category in ODP is called Shopping: Classifieds: Homes - FSBO and you specified Business > Real Estate > Residential > For Sale By Owner which is a Yahoo directory name. I'm not sure you ever were in DMOZ.

The site is in Yahoo alright, just can't find the darned thing. Maybe due to low page rank or something.

I discovered that the category of real estate > Residential > For sale by owner would actually lead to shopping > classified > home-fsbo (I know because I just checked)

Any news as to when I might get my site reviewed??

[bobrat, the Shopping category is also an @link in http://dmoz.org/Business/Real_Estate/Residential/ ]

Your site has never been listed in the ODP as far as I can tell unless it was listed under a different URL. As for time for review, it could be anywhere from minutes to months. We can't be more specific than that. All you can do is wait patiently. You can come back to this thread in a calendar month (though I'd recommend you wait at least 2-3 months) to check up on it again.

Can we find out what 'number' we are in the waiting line? It's like we have no control over anything except to wait.
That's because you don't. Once you've submitted, it's in the hands of the editing community. Since the sites waiting to be reviewed in any given category are more a pool than a queue, you don't have a number.

Also should I submit every page in the website to DMOZ or would it only accept the index page?
Oh, lord, please don't. That would be a really good way to get labelled a spammer.

Wow! I am glad so many people are actually helping out here!

You guys sure work hard.

In the meantime, I'll figure out something else to help pop the site. But I'll be back...

Or maybe because DMOZ isn't Yahoo. Why are you asking questions here about a listing of your site in Yahoo.

He's not; he's asking about his Dmoz submission and mentioned Yahoo at the same time (in response to a question).

Thanks for explaining!

It's like going to a cheap buffet...People running around, and people cut each other off...You never know what you gonna get.

I noticed submission is getting slow to get approved now-a-day. I've submit to other major search engines and nothing happening so far. Why slow motion?

Is DMOZ still feeding Google goodies?

Your question was answered on 9/4. Please wait a minimum of a month between queries. That means, no sooner than October 4, although based on the answer you were given, I recommend that you not ask again until sometime in mid-November at the earliest.

We set forth these timelines so that we have the time to answer questions from as many people as possible.

Would you know how much longer until my next check?

It's been about 4 months since I first submitted. There aren't many new sites being added to the category. Could you update/share some information? Thanks!!

In the grand scheme of things, four months is not a very long time.

The average wait is somewhere between two minutes (for the very lucky) and two years (for very unlucky submitters in very spammy parts of the directory).

What you can do is continue to add unique content to your website, and make that unique content easy to find, so that the reviewing editor has little or no difficulty determining whether or not to include your site in the directory.

Remember, the editor judges the site based on what is there the instant it is being reviewed.
