I added the link as suggested a while back but I have not yet gotten an update on status. Any Idea when a status will be posted?

Our guidelines require you wait 6 months since your last status check. By my calculations, you can return after February 23rd to request the status again.

You can e-mail an editor for an update -- that is, I can't stop you.

But I do not recommend it, and you learned the reason in kindergarten (if not before): "If everybody did that, what would happen?"

You will be wasting the editor's time that could have been spent reviewing websites. You will not be achieving any other purpose on earth.

And, in any case, what are you going to do with that status when you hear it? How will it change your business plan? How will it change your web promotion strategy? How will it affect what you eat for lunch?

And if you're thinking "if I bug these people enough about the status, they'll list it to get me to go away" -- sorry, man, we're really not that stupid.

Hi there, just reading through these posts here I notice that most of the people who are requesting status on sites do so in a polite and respectful manner to the ODP staff. This is how it should be!

However, it might help to remember that the users of this site are not as well versed in the system as you are. Sure, there is an area where users can view the actual guidelines for posting; however there is an area like that in most forums and much like an EULA which you click to agree to the terms of using a product like windows, people don't read them!

Those of us who have been around the forums for a little while, and have taken the time to read the posts which people have written understand the importance of reading this text, but please Mr Moderator don't be too hard on the people who havn't. It's an everyday thing when people don't.

So perhaps you could be a little less sarcastic in your posts to members. Is there really any need to say things like:

you learned the reason in kindergarten
How will it change your business plan? How will it change your web promotion strategy? How will it affect what you eat for lunch?

There isn't really any need for it. Perhaps if you explained politely to the person you are addressing that it isn't appropriate to email the editors, they receive too many already, and are unlikely to answer. Or that by recieving the status, you can't really do anything else with that response anyway.

Just remember, although you may have volunteered to do this job, no-one asked you to and no-one deserves to be spoken down to for asking an honest question.

Oh, and in case your interested I did volunteer to be an editor, but as I (unlike many editors) honestly disclosed an affiliation to a site which could have gone in that catagory I was knocked back. And I'm a very objective and reasonably intelligent person.

You will be wasting the editor's time that could have been spent reviewing websites

Less time spent in the forums thinking up ways to belittle people would create more time for editing catagories.

Please don't take this as a personal attack, it isn't in the slightest I have upmost respect for anyone volunteering to do a job which helps others. Please take it as a little public relations advice, ODP has had enough bad press recently and dosn't need anymore.
