Update - status of www.koifurniture.co.uk

Hi,

Trying to find out about the status of www.koifurniture.co.uk.

Category - http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_a...iture/Oriental/

Do you know if anyone is editing this category as there are only about 15 entries at present.

Also would it make any difference if I did change the category now as suggested, to the speed with which the site might get looked at?

I didn't want to go in to this category because I'm not sure how long our physical presence will remain in the Midlands unless you think it will make a difference.

Also if any editors have any tips for what I could do to the site to make sure there are no submittal problems once the site is reviewed that would be appreciated.

1 - It is awaiting review in the Shopping cat.
2 - If you only delivery in the UK, it doesn't belong in Shopping, but in Regional.
3- The submission will be moved upon review, but if you want to submit to a Regional category, you certainly may. You probably have a better idea of which UK category is best than the Shopping editor does.

KOI Furniture Submission

Sorry - am confused now.

From what I understood you cannot submit to more than one category at a time.

In the guidelines it states:
"....multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites. Disguising your submission and submitting the same URL more than once is not permitted. If a site you submitted has not been listed after a month, you may check its status at the dmoz public forums."

So how can I submit to another category without jeopardising my current submission?

Any idea how long it will take the shopping editor to take a squiz at my submission? Is there even an editor for that category? Have any other sites in that category been reviewed lately? What happens if it doesn't have an editor?

Regional is a special case. If a site has a physical location, a brick and mortar presence then it can be submitted and considered in Regional and a Topical category with no penalty. No promise it will be listed in both but if you have a storefront or a physical presence in a locality - then submit both places. Please note - we list sites in Regional by where they are physically located, not by the area they serve. Hope this helps.

submission status - update

Can someone please tell me what the submission status of www.koifurniture.co.uk.

Have previously submitted to http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_a...iture/Oriental/ and then upon advice to Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/West_Midlands/Coventry/Business_and_Economy/Shopping

Have now waited for six months as asked and would really appreciate any help to try and get listed + status of category and whether the categories are being edited.

BTW your links in your last post are broken.

The site is listed in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Uni...dlands/Coventry/Business_and_Economy/Shopping

It looks like shipping is only allowed within the UK, hence it does not qualify for listing in http://dmoz.org/Shopping . It was deleted from http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Furniture/Oriental since it was listed in Regional. However I think it may qualify at the UK level, so I have added it for consideration in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Uni...d_Economy/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Furniture/

Can you tell me then whether I have to now go to the back of the queue so to speak or will my submission get in front of the editor the next time s/he looks at the category?

I would really appreciate any help getting someone to look at this.

Heck, we submitted it UK level, not you :) . It's in a pile, not a queue; an editor will process it in due course, but we can't predict when that might be. By all means enquire here again if it hasn't been additionally listed there within 6 months.

Don't forget your site is already listed in your locality.

I don't know what part of 'The site is listed in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Uni...conomy/Shopping' I didn't understand but I completely missed it last night.

What I had been doing was checking my submission status by entering koi furniture into the search box. As no results were returned relevant to my submission I took it for granted that it had not been submitted.

But now I see that it is included in the directory - thanks - but when I use the search still on dmoz it still does not show up. Is this just a time lag thing?

Yes. :) Search is supposed to update about once a week, but it hasn't been updating for several weeks now. We don't know when it will be updated next, but as long as your site is in the directory it is included in the RDF data dump which our data users collect.
