Re: status request submission http://www.ffandf.co

Thank you Neil!

Any idea how much longer it may take? That category is currently not being edited.

(I did apply but was rejected with no comment.)

No idea, I'm afraid, but there are quite a few other submissions waiting so it may take several weeks. Check back in about 4-6 weeks or so and we'll let you know how it's getting on.

Your denial may have been due to the large amount of spam that comes into the General Merchandise category. If you are serious about wanting to be an editor you may want to find a small category elsewhere that you are interested in, and work toward General Merchandise as a goal after gaining some editing experience.

It will likely take awhile before your site is seen. I spend time in different areas of General several times a week (much of it taken up by spam) but almost every section of the alphabar is backed up.

Re: status request submission http://www.ffandf.co

We first submitted our site in April. Not knowing this would reset our submission date, we followed the posted guidelines in the Submit URL page from DMOZ and resubmitted again in early May and June. Also, did a paid submission (I know now, a dumb thing to do.) through Ineedhits.

I've also submitted a number of 'Update URL' requests for this page to remove dead links and one Adult site gateway. (Using my home email address @cox.net.)

(Originally I had incorrectly submitted this query to the 'Submissions' topic. Thank you to the kind editor for moving to the proper Topic.)

Thank you!

The submission we have is dated 10th May 2003, and it's sitting in the queue waiting for a editor to come along and review it.

There is no need to submit update requests for website changes to us. Any change made on your site will only effect the site and not its ODP listing.

You may want to apply to a smaller category and work your way up. Meta editors like to see new editors first prove their editing capability before approving a larger cat.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. The Update URL changes were for that (http://dmoz.org/Shopping/General_Merchandise/F/) page, not my site. (I wouldn't have any Adult content! )

That page (again, http://dmoz.org/Shopping/General_Merchandise/F/) only has 47 links. I thought that was a small category.

The 'Volunteer to edit' page says generally under 100 sites is "small, underdeveloped".

I'm not sure that I can find a smaller category I've got experience in.

I processed those last night...thank you for catching them One of those urls were working when I checked them, but all the rest were either redirecting where they shouldn't or reading a 404 error. I wondered who did that!

Thanks!

I noticed those sites had been removed.

After that success, I thought about checking through some more of the Alphabar... Then I thought "if the editors are already so overloaded I think I'd better wait until after my site gets listed to throw more wood on the fire".
