Status Request - www.boombox.co.uk

Hi,
I have submitted my site (www.boombox.co.uk) to http://dmoz.org/Arts/Music/Styles/Hip_Hop/ and have heard nothing from any application to date.

I checked through most of the links and they are old sites that haven't been updated for years.

I don't see any reason why my site should fail approval.

Is there a shortage of editors for this section?

I think I can say there is a shortage of editors in this section. This category itself is certainly too large for a new editor (editors are also allowed to edit subcategories), but a letter subcategory of Arts: Music: Styles: Hip Hop: Bands and Artists might be a good place to start for a new editor. If you feel you'd like to contribute to the Open Directory Project, select a nice small category and suggest three good sites with good descriptions. (In the case of those letter subcategories that would mean you would have to find three bands starting with the same letter - impossible to me, but probably not too difficult for a fan.)

What about a new category in http://dmoz.org/Arts/Music/Styles/Hip_Hop/ called News?

Such a category is imaginable. We would call it "News and Media" though. (We have a list of preferred terms that are used frequently all over the directory.) We already have such a category for jazz: Arts: Music: Styles: Jazz: News and Media.

Please have a look at the sites already listed in Arts: Music: Styles: Hip Hop. Which are clearly focused on hip hop news? (Sorry for the dumb question, but I really know nothing about this style of music - I prefer Bach.) We might create a "News and Media" subcategory for them.
