Greetings.

I submitted http://www.littlebazaar.com I believe well over a month ago. It was submitted under

http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/General_Merchandise/Novelties/

I also saw a link in my web logs that may or may not indicate my site was visited with the words approved in the link. I'm not sure if it really belongs to ODP though.

Nevertheless I'd appreciate a heads up as what the status is and perhaps if there's anything else I'm required to do.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for prompt response.

I looked at the link you provided and my site doesn't fit any of those categories that I could tell. Is there a way you would be able to tell me the reason so I can improve the site if possible?

The merchandise on your site is the same in every detail as can be found on many other sites. We don't list those, either - the users of a directory aren't helped by having several sites selling the exact same stuff to choose between!

Well, that's understandable.

The products on the web site are provided by a large national Drop shipper therefore the products and their descriptions are identical as they are indicated in their electronic Catalog.

However each site belongs to a different Business located all over the United States, Canada and Europe. They have really nothing in common except their source and the prices are totally different based on what those independant businesses decide.

So basically we are all competitors and not affiliates. Using this logic you should not list any site that sells Xbox because they are all identical and they all have the same descriptions.

Is there anyway you could be kind enough to point me to the right direction so I can appeal this? I would appreciate this very much.

Thanks again.

There is no appeal process.

Our guidelines define what can and cannot be put in the directory. The ultimate decision rests upon the shoulders of the volunteer editors. That decision has been reached and is not subject to review.

While your site does not qualify for placement in the ODP directory, we are certainly not the only game in town and if you cannot change to content of your website to meet the requirements of our guidelines, then you can and should pursue other promotional opportunites. There are any number of directories and search engines that will accept outside submissions, and there are a number of discussion fora that have themed discussions on how to go about this.

Good luck in that endeavor.

Should you change you site content so that it is predominately not affiliate based, you are welcome to resubmit at that time (and if you should do so, be sure an indicate in the submission description that the content of the website has signifiantly changed).

Ok, thank you. Unfortunately We sell what we sell and the only supplier of those particular products are the people we deal with so if the suplier is black listed I'm not sure what we can do. We use the description in their catalog because anything else we add could lead to misrepresentation.

Although I don't understand why competing businesses shouldn't be able to compete on a search directory, nevertheless I respect your decision.

Thanks.
