I just took a look at your sites and discovered that the old one re-directs to the new one. Good stuff, this makes it so much easier for us to verify which URL is the primary one.

I went in to approve your update, but the description you had submitted was not guidelines compliant. I was going to re-use the old one, but I find that that one isn't compliant either. Unfortunately I don't understand the financial services industry, so I can't work out how to describe your company. Sorry.

Let's hope someone with more knowledge than me comes along and reads this.

Thank you for looking at the site. I do not understand what you mean that our description is not compliant. I will reread your guidelines. Should I have submitted this as a new URL site instead of updating our old URL to the new? Thank you again for the review.

You were absolutely correct in submitting the update.

Editor dfy was referring to the current description and the one in the update request not following the guidelines currently set forth in the ODP Editing Style Guidelines. Things like putting the company name in the description or using promotional language (e.g. calling a company a "leading" provider) are generally frowned upon. Also, descriptions should highlight the actual contents of the site, not just describe the business.

However, we don't expect submitters to write perfect descriptions (though the better a submitted description is, the more likely an editor will understand what is important to include). In my experience, almost no submitted descriptions are actually guidelines-compliant. Even most editors take a while to learn the guidelines. You did nothing wrong, and an editor with experience in that area of the directory will process your update request, editing your description to make it compliant.

As lachenm says, you've done nothing wrong. In fact you've done almost everything right. We can't expect submitters to know and understand all of our guidelines. It's just unfortunate that I have insufficient knowledge in that area to be able to make the change you have requested. I made the post above in the hope of prompting someone that understands these things to take a look.

Thank you for your response. My concern is that it has been five months now and I am wondering if we have an editor for our category.

Since our description is not compliant can we use the description given to us by Yahoo?

offers credit, debit, online, and contact center solutions designed for credit unions and their members.
