also, I originally submitted this site almost a year ago. In that year, my site's content has gotten greater in quantity and quality. If my site was rejected a long time ago, would it be okay to resubmit now that my site is better? Or is it like once you're rejected, you're rejected for good?

It was rejected, six months or so ago. If the content has changed SUBSTANTIALLY, and now is SUBSTANTIALLY less commercial, you could resubmit.

help me understand what you mean by less commercial... I never thought my content itself was commercial. I don't sell anything, so my content wasn't just a bunch of sales pitches. are you referring to the amount of ads on the site?

Your logic is badly flawed, and this will naturally cause confusion. We review thousands of sites daily that don't sell anything, but whose content is exactly "just a bunch of sales pitches."

And there is also a language confusion, perhaps based on different purposes. For us, "review" seems to mean something different than your concept. That's OK, the web is world-wide and the ODP cannot do everything. But it does mean that when you seek "reviews" for your own site, you'll probably need look to parties who share your concept of review.
