I have submitted my site to DMOZ in the following catagory:
Arts: Visual Arts: Painting: Painters: Portraits

The good news is that it now is waiting in the queue with a submission date of 03/Mar/2003 05:13:42 MST, the bad news is that category is backed up with a queue of over 250 sites--it is likely to be awhile.

We could, but it wouldn't be terribly useful. Editors can go through a queue in any order they like, and there are several ways of sorting queues. There is no way of predicting when your site will be reviewed.

Sorry, I thought they would be reviewed in the order they were submitted. I am listed well in Google, Yahoo and msn so I guess it isn't all that important anyway. <img src="/images/icons/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Its the editors choice to do so or maybe look for easy submissions to be processed first or choose one of the other sort criteria that are available.

It hasn't been a month, yet. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> It'll have been a month on May 12 -- come back then.

Hey! it's the 12th!! I'm baaaaaaaaaack. Am I one month closer to being reviewed now? <img src="/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" /> I know, it's only been since March that I've been waiting and many have waited longer but we're ALL anxious! <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

Well, I can pretty much guarantee that you are indeed one month closer to being reviewed, as your site will eventually be reviewed, and one month has passed. Unfortunately, your site is still waiting with over 250 others, so it may take a while.

Please feel free to check again after at least one month, but also please realize that with such a large backlog, it may take quite some time to be reviewed.

No, around the same number of sites as before. Your site is still in there.

The site does actually already have a listing in the ODP, in the category http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Arkansas/Localities/G/Green_Forest/Arts_and_Entertainment it appears as though it got listed there in 12-May-2003

This does not preclude you from being listed in the category you asked about here - the editor deemed you to have a regional presence, and so you were listed in that other category too.

Thank you so much for your reply and I appreciate the listing in the regional catagory. The reason I did not submit to that catagory in the first place is that this is such a tiny area that there is no need for a web presence in this region.

We look at it the other way around. The place is so small, every website is precious.
