This is ridicoulous, i am waiting for almost over a year, the stupid thing is that i did signup to be an editor, but then you get the answer: we don't need any people because we have enought, HOW can this be? Enough people to review sites, but it takes a year to submit a site? I did work really hard on my site, and its frustrating that all kind of crappy related sites are placed in the DMOZ (i.e. mediarec.it is the official site label but the site isn't updated for months, they did even steal our content).

I really hope some admin can message a reviewer, so my site can be added soon.

Not going to happen. We're all volunteers, here, and no one can demand that a volunteer look at your site.

Well i don't understand it, when people OFFER to volunteer they say: we don't need u, meanwhile it takes a year before someone can review a site. This is just not right and very frustrating for webmasters. I don't understand it at all why it have to take a year before someone can review a site, in this category there are NOT that many websites, so the only reason i think why it takes so long is that the guy who maintain it is inactive.

Per the guidelines you are next eligible for a status update after June 17, 2005.

Can i bribe someone?

I would seriously hope that to be a joke. Offering a bribe is a serious offense and most definately would only have a negative effect.

Please continue to be patient.

We'd normally list the official site, and only the official site. If they are stealing your content, you need to take that up with them.

One of the sites actually has a name and address, the other does not. But of course that proves nothing - it just makes me wonder why a record label company has no address?

Actually I see you state who is copying from who. The bottom of your site says

Mediarec.info is not associated with Mediarec.com. It uses content copyright by Media Records. This material is used for the purposes of informed discussion, and is not intended to interfere with Media Records right to use said material for their own commercial goals.

The official Media Records website is: www.mediarec.com

Also your forum says

22 March 2005 at 11:13pm

Today the news reached us that there are no longer Media Records companies around the globe.
Which means that the Media Records outside of Italy, except Germany for now, are no longer official or quit.
For further news we ask you to watch our main site regular.

As nobody has commented on this, I will even though it's been a while: You cannot possibly have received that reply. "Enough people" is an impossible concept - it's more likely that you applied for a category that was unsuitable for a new editor. There is more information and a handy FAQ in the Becoming an Editor forum.

Well its more complicated like this, Media Records HAS a official site (they just released a new site last week which is pretty good), Media Records work like franchises, most Media Records divisions are maintained by other record companies, so one artist can be exclusive Media Records in Germany and England, but not by Sweden or Holland. On the other side, some artists left the label (or work freelance now), what we do is provide a portal about ALL artists asociated with the label and bring INDEPENDEND news, actually for some Artists we have exclusive news because they don't like the way the label presents the news. So i understand if you say that you only present official sites, but we ARE a official site, we are the OFFICIAL fan site for this label (thats why we could use this domain name).

What i don't understand is that after more as a year, we get the answer that we seem not to be in the right category, this is frustrating, and i don't understand that all communication is so bad, and about bribing, offcourse that was a joke, but i am sure if i would do that it would be fixed in a week, since i know some people who did that.

I just have a question, is it a rule that only official sites are listed?
If yes, can my site be listed in another category? If yes, which one.

What you have looks like an affiliate doorway. We don't list those anywhere.

WTF, dude, we have by far the biggest Media Records resource of all websites (yes i know we are NOT the official site) but we bring the news BEFORE the official sites bring it, since most of them don't have a decent CMS. We have daily contacts with their headoffice and from them we get the news. We also get our news directly from the PR officers of the artists, because they know we react much quicker as the official sites (some of them are not updated for years).

By telling me that we have a affiliate doorway you are insulting me bigtime, since i don't have any commercial interest in anything related to this website.
I spend about 1200 euro a year on hosting, did buy a 3000 euro server, spent over 500 hours in building this site, about 800 hours filling the Recordsdatabase, oh and i made $38 with adsense in 13 months.

This a affiliate site? Based on what?

Hutcheson was very very precise in his wording - he said it looks like an affiliate doorway. He made no judgment as to what it is or isn't.

See you have explained that you happen to be first to publish stuff that maybe only comes later on other web sites. That is probably not obvious from the site itself.

Editors can only review sites based on exactly what is on the site. They probably don't read this forum (very few do). If they see content that is essentially the same as on the official sites for the businesses, they have no way of knowing which one was first.
