Hi there, I didnt know this forum existed until now but its given me the chance to ask a valid question.

My website, www.tonebase.com was listed in dmoz but a few months ago I had to change content provider. I asked for my listing to be changed but I was removed and despite further submissions (once a month) to dmoz I have not yet had my listing replaced.

Why is this? I see my category needs an editor but surely someone must be dealing with this?

Regional > Europe > United Kingdom > Business and Economy > Industries > Telecommunications > Mobile > Services > Ring Tones, Graphics and Logos

Thank you for setting up this forum as I have been wondering how to contact dmoz for ages.

I just wanted to add that I have changed provider three times so far as I ahvnt been paid by the fist one and they owe me money and the second one seemed to be saying a sold less than I actually had. Therefore, should my listing request be slightly incorrect with the content I am providing I will change that request if you wish to delete it.

What did you ask your entry to be changed from and to?

You may find this thread of interest as it is currently discussing a similar topic.

Basically, as your site does not offer unique content (see Google results) it will not be listed (for a longer answer, see this thread about a similar site).

Hi

Your site uses the content provider mms3. This cat already lists one site which contains mms3 content, so your site is unlikely to be listed unless you change the content to something more unique.

Hope this sheds some light on the matter.

Ok, I see your points of view. I understand that the site I have is not unique in the way of ringtones and logos. However....

1) Would my other website (already listed in DMOZ) be removed becuase it to sells ringtones provided by stealthnet despite the fact it is a motorcycle website? www.bikebase.co.uk in Recreation: Motorcycles: Classifieds and Bulletin Boards
2) could I therefore request that bikebase is moved to ringtones and logos because it provides unique content and ringtones and logos?

We classify sites by their unique content. So if the unique content of http://www.bikebase.co.uk/ is classifieds and bulletins boards about motorcycles, then Recreation/Motorcycles/Classifieds and Bulletin Boards is the right category.

You can not be listed in a category to which you contribute no unique content. As long as you don't have unique content about ring tones, graphics and logos, you probably won't be listed in Regional/Europe/United Kingdom/Business and Economy/Industries/Telecommunications/Mobile/Services/Ring Tones, Graphics and Logos.
