Please advise on the status of the following sites:

http://www.Energie3000.us http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Vehicles/Parts_and_Accessories/Engine/Fuel/
I don't quite remember where I submitted it. I wonder if there is a way to find out? Also, if I resubmit it, how can I prevent the program to delete the submission as spam?

http://www.Russiansauna.com
http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Swimming_Pools_and_Spas/Saunas/
http://www.fasthivtest.com
http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Home_Tests/HIV/

Thanks

I am not able to check any of the unreviewed queues, but can answer a couple of your questions anyway:

If you can't remember where you submitted your site there is no way for us to find out, until an editor finds it in among the unreviewed for a category. However, a single resubmission to the most suitable category will not be viewed as spam. There is no automatic spam deletion, that is all done by human editors.

Your question about www.russiansauna.com should be kept to your original thread about that submission. Please allow at least a month from the date of your first request there until enquiring again. Thanks! :)

I hope that the submission status forum is working again. Could you please provide the information regarding the status of the abovementioned sites. Thanks in advance. :)

Neither of the first two sites has been listed, modified or deleted so I assume that they are sitting in the unreviewed pools. The third site is definitely still sitting in the unreviewed pool.

The Energie3000 submission has been received. Resubmitting fasthivtest was not necessary, as it was already awaiting review (see John_Caius' post). But that's not a problem.

I've got a question: would it hurt to resubmit a site to an upper category that has been edited more recently (like which had the last update not in February, but in May)? For example, I looked at the last update of Home Tests--> HIV and it turns out that the last update was in February (that's why there is one dead link - the last one, by the way). Thanks.

Yes, it would hurt. Submitting to the wrong category delays your listing by however long it takes to move it to the correct category where it will wait again.

Thanks for the update. Cannot say it's good news, but at least it's some news.

We are now working on the content of the website. We are going to be selling the same product. However, if our site improves its content, i.e. making it more unique, would it improve our chances of getting listed?

Thanks for your time.

Unique content in a SHOPPING category is basically "Sally Sells Seashells by the Seashore for Six Shekels a Shell." Anything else is irrelevant and nugatory. Suzy can carry signboards, put up billboards, pass out fliers, give lectures on seashell identification, collection, preservation, and uses ... it doesn't matter, "Suzy shills Sally's Seashell Shop" can never be unique SHOPPING content: Suzy needs a separate shack, supplier, and shelf of seashells.

LOL!

Sorry to intrude on this thread, but I love that explanation and just had to say so.

You cannot be more unique - you either are unique or you aren't. Unless you have exclusive rights a shopping site will by its very nature sell the same things as other shopping sites. The key is what does your site offer that others don't that really makes a difference, and I don't mean 50 cents off and free shipping.

One example - footwear. Thousands of sites sell footwear online. Few give detailed instructions about how to measure your foot so as to order the exact size regardless of your country of origin. Few lead methough the whole manufacturing process so I know I'm buying quality. Few give me comprehensive customer services information so I know if I have a problem there is a real person I can talk it through with. Few give me objective advice on what I shoud purchase. Few give me anything but a graphic, a price, and a link to their shopping cart. Unless the product itself is unique then what am I being offered? Nothing I can't get in 1000 other places.

Adding very detailed information about your products, their origins, their background/history, some detailed information about you and/or your business and why you sell what you do, none of these guarantee you a listing in DMOZ, but they certainly add to the buyer experience when visiting your site and help the editor reviewing the site to determine whether your site adds content-rich unique value to the Directory. :pirate:
