There's really only one criterion: provide adequate relevant unique content.

So you can ask yourself: is the content unique: is there anyone else on the web empowered to proffer that house for rent? Does it demonstrate that the site belongs in that category as opposed to any other? Is it adequate and relevant? That is, does it answer the basic questions anyone must ask before doing business with a stranger?

(A friend of mine has a website about a property for rent. It's not listed either.)

I believe you are reading your own site in the light of information that you have (but do not divulge on the site) in order to get those answers. You cannot expect the editor to do that: we can only read in the light of facts that WE know ... which are not necessarily the same facts.
