No. they were _ordered_ then. My understanding is that staff now (as of a week or two ago) has the new livestock in their grubby little hands, and are busily training the gerbils to run in the new helical-shaped cages.
People who are used to hacking, say, a 10,000-entry database of vstore inventory numbers really don't understand the complexity of moving a major site like dmoz.org (where enormous engenuity has gone into getting the maximum amount of work out of three gerbils, two of them mere pups) onto new differently-distributed hardware without TOTALLY disrupting production. (The disruption has at times verged on totality...)
It's still necessary to reserve some of the gerbils for exclusive use by editors: until that is no longer true, non-editors aren't going to be able to do ANYTHING reliably.
I'm sure that when that point comes, there will be an announcement of it.
