Greetings,
I have a question regarding subdomains on DMOZ.
It is my understanding that a site can only apply for 1 category (possible two if regional). From DMOZ website: "You should submit your site to the single most appropriate category that is directly relevant to your site's content. Please only submit your site one time."
However, what about subdomains?
The reason I ask is this:
I am part of a worldwide network of medical researchers. We have compiled almost research databases of medical abstracts. Our goal is to publish all the databases on a single domain (to save costs on domain names). The databases will be purely informational and educational (for scientists and general public). It has been recommended to us that we should utilize subdomains to isolate each database (topic) as each is uniquely focused and independent.
The proposed website name is: researchabstractsdatabase.com or something to that effect.
an example subdomains would be: glucosamine.researchabstractsdatabase.com
diabetes.researchabstractsdatabase.com
probiotic.researchabstractsdatabase.com
erectiledysfunction.researchabstractsdatabase.com
premenstrualsyndrome.researchabstractsdatabase.com
arthritis.researchabstractsdatabase.com
etc......
We will be using wordpress as a content management system for each subdomain. Each subdomain would be a seperate and distinct wordpress install. Each subdomain would be an independent site not related to the other subdomains. i.e. diabetes.researchabstractsdatabase.com would only have information and research on diabetes. Each subdomain would be separately managed, maintained, and updated. Each subdomain will have thousands of "pages" for each article or abstract. To date, we have compiled almost 25 distinct health topics for subdomains with potential for 100+ (for different diseases, pathologies, treatments, etc.)
The question is, can each subdomain have a unique listing in DMOZ as the content is focused and unique on each subdomain.
Thanks, in advance,
Dr. Jalal
