Hello.... I was just wondering if the submission time would be longer when there is no editor in a given category. This category:

http://dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Storage/Data_Recovery/

has not had an editor for a long time and I have noticed that no sites have been added to this category in quite a while either. Should I consider a regional category first perhaps?

Thank you for yout time.

No category is without an editor.

Editors higher up in the "tree" can and do edit in the categories below them. In addition, some 200+ editors have permission to edit anywhere in the directory.

Many sites are eligible for both a regional and a topical listing. You are certainly welcome to submit both (once!). The processing of each submission is separate and apart and has no impact on the other.

When submitting to Regional, submit based on where your company is physically located, not based on where you market.

A category with no named editor may be targeted tomorrow for a complete re-review and overhaul. Some other category with a listed editor, may find that editor about to take a three month vacation on the other side of the world, sans computer.

Having a named editor, or not, is no real indication of review times at all.
