Hi,

I submitted the site www.businessserve.co.uk on the 09/07/04 to the catagory:

Computers: Internet: Access Providers

Before doing so I checked to see if the site was already indexed by searching for "www.businessserve.co.uk", this produced no results so I submitted this site.

Today I was just checking to see if the submission was successful, I searched for "businessserve" and it turns out the site is listed. Is there a reason for this?

Also the services outlined within the description is no longer valid as they no longer exist, how do I go about changing this?

thank you for any help you can give

If the description is inaccurate you can suggest a change to the listing by clicking the update listing link at the top of the category page your site is listed in:

e.g.

http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/update.cgi?...my/Computers_and_Internet/Commercial_Services

-

I cannot comment on the status of the submission you made to Computers/Internet/Access_Providers.

If you want to know the status of that submission - you can use the Computers site submission status forum AFTER 9th August (as you must wait a month from submitting before requesting a status check.)

Also if you do choose to use it, please ensure you read the guidelines for that forum before posting - as status requests must be formatted correctly.

As you have correctly noted searching on the url including the www will not work, that's just the way dmoz's search facility behaves. If you omit the www it finds sites. (So searching on businessserve.co.uk works as well.)

Thanks. Would that more submitters would check first.

The search is an adjunct to the directory. The search database is not updated in real time, but on a schedule and hadn't been run for several weeks (due to some other development work on the directory). It would seem that the listing for that site was not in the search database at the time you searched.

It also appears to have been found independently, and not as a result of your submission, which is probably still waiting in the category where you submitted it.

Use the "Update Listing" link on the category page where it is listed and follow the instructions.

The duplicate submission will be rejected as the site is already listed.

The duplicate submission should not clash with the update request. They should be handled seperately.
